My ex and I met in London and were together for four years. We split up two years ago. If my friends and I go to certain places, eg Canterbury, or Bluewater shopping mall, I think about him, as I had been there with him. Is it normal?? I never heard from him again after we split up. I even emailed him a couple of times to say hello, but no reply. I wouldn't go back to him, but was wondering if we could be friends as we grew up together in Africa.

it very much normal, remember that whatever we do and whatever places we go to, we're making memories not erasing them. you had something special with him and that will never go away. it will always be there, not that you still got feelings for him, it just certain places awakes all those good memories and what you felt at that time.

I think its normal. All the broken relationships are caused by one or two things but there are a lot of things that u still remember about the ex. Dont u wish u could all good things from all the people u have been with and make an ideal person u want to be with .. well remembering him and thinking about old days just shows how nice and normal person u are.

Yip, surely from all the answers, you aren't the only one who thinks abt their ex's. It's normal. There was surely some kind of love (afta 4 years u would hope so) and no matter how badly things ended...that love is always there. Remember the good times cos memories make you who you are but also remember why it ended. Friends seem a good way to go but also respect him if he doesn't want it.

I think it is totally normal to still think about your ex. I mean your ex was a big part of your life and 4 years is quite a lot. I was in a 2 n half year relationship and I still do think about my ex. The memories you shared with your ex are still going to be there and it is psycholgical and there are little things that will remind you of that person. However if he is not replying to your e-mails it might mean he wants to cut off all communication with him or he might have changed his e-mail address.

Uh.. tell me bout that....:-(
Yes, it's normal.
Despite having ended my relationship 3 years ago I still love my ex. She is a really nice person and we've had a really good time together. We still talk with each other once in a while, and she knows she can count on me, as well as her family.
It's normal, although I don't know if it's healthy :-S

I still think about my ex. I think we should all meet up and have a big hug love in. It would be so good to see her life now, would help a lot with moving on.

It's normal to have certain places or things, trigger memories...it's okay to remember spending time with him but don't dwell on it to distraction...you've been apart 2 years, you should have gotten closure on that chapter of your life long ago...

I was wondering the same thing. I haven't spoken or seen my first bf (now ex duh haha) in almost 5 years and recently started missing him. Not sure why though.
Anywho, if he doesn't reply then there is probably no way there could be a friendship.
