There are a lot of car salesmen that make the mistake of lying to customers. They are not very successful and hurt there own personal income by lying. Word of mouth can be you're best friend or your worst enemy. Customers are a lot more educated in buying cars than ever before, with the Internet to do you're homework first. People are not stupid for the most part, but car salesmen who do lie are very stupid. I have been a car salesman/ finance manager since 1986. I am successful at it and do not lie to my customers and I sell more cars than most. I get repeat customers and there friends and family members come to me when they need to purchase a vehicle. We are not all bad. Only the stupid ones who usually bounce around from dealership to dealership and never build a good strong customer base. The car salesmen that lie think they have to in order to make a sale. I can't stand a salesman who lies. He gives car salesmen a bad name. We do not all lie. You just have to find the right salesperson that will be straight with you and make you a fair deal then stick with him, send him customers and he will treat you right every time.

Why do attorneys rip everyone off, why do all catholic preists molest children, why do all doctors have cold hands? Not all car dealers lie. There is no 100% with anyone. As an internet sales manager for 6 years I have found that most customers are the ones we have to worry about lying. But, not all customers. Find one that is recommended by a friend or family member. Visit autotrader.com or visit the internet department of your local dealership via online. You can do all of your shopping from the privacy of your own home and weed out the liars from the good ones.

Same reason why lawyers, commercial people and probably almost all people do. Get money. However, car salesmen also get their basis from fact. It's just that they make it sound really nice for you to buy it.
That's the way the world is. But remember that not all people are like this. Some people just do what they have to.

so you buy the car when you otherwise wouldn't, or to get you to pay more than it's worth. I never buy from used car people. Buy from a classified ad, they are more honest. Also, you save enough money that even if it had a problem, you could still fix it and be ahead.

I like the fact they are slime balls, I go to random car lots and act like I have alot of money and would like to drive their cars. I have no money ever and I have never not test driven the car that I want. If you play their game you will alwaise win because you can walkaway and they cant. If they do walk away from you you tell their boss and he/she usually gets very very angry. Then you drive the car and get to get the ****** in trouble.

Because they want to sell you THEIR car. They work on commission - at least most of them do. If they don't work on commission, you can bet that they work for 'sales incentives' or 'bonuses'. (I used to sell cars - first Nissans, then Jaguars.)
I didn't make it because I wouldn't lie. Go figure.
