my daughter has been recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia she has had pains for 2 years now most nights. the only treatment for this is anti depressants which is a little extreme for a 3 yr old but it does less damage than panadol, also the only way to diagnose fibromyalgia is by its symptoms. i am interested to know what u think about the whole thing and a little advice would be great.

FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons – the soft fibrous tissues in the body. Here is a link to the Fibromyalgia Network which is full of wonderful, up to date information.

and here is a link to a site about women with FMS.

See if you can find a pedatric rheumatoligist who might be able to find a better treatment. Best wishes to you both.

This is a very difficult and strange disease, the muscle fascia gets in knots creating debilitating pain, and great exhaustion. It can also be a symptom of an autoimmune type disease. I had a sister-in-law that struggled with fibromyalgia for a couple years, going to different doctors and such. Her Dad, who is a retired MD, in another state, recommended she go to this "Hotze" clinic in Texas. It was there she was finally able to get help and find that her fibromyalgia was only part of her problem. They are a holistic medical clinic, Dr. Hotze is a "Top Doc" in Texas.
Unfortunately conventional medicine seems to be failing many people by treating them all "textbook" style or there is no other option, instead of treating each patient individually and looking at other options.
With your daughter being so young, I would still search, as it seems you are doing. Just to make sure she is getting the right treatment.
Here is a link to drhotze.com, they do phone consultations, I don't know if they could be of further help, but it might be worth a try. Good Luck.

All I know is fibromyalgia is having pain in the body everywhere like you said. I am a medical transcriptionist and the orthopaedist I do work for doesn't think fibromyalgia is an accurate diagnosis because it's not finding the source of the pain and correcting it. Your dad might want to have a second opinion and find a doctor who will keep looking for the main source of his pain. For the days he doesn't want to experience pain, he could always be put on morphine (or a morphine patch). Good luck!

I wasn't going to bother reading this question because FM Fibromyalgia is an exhausting topic, but I do want to help a little kid. God love the people who have FM because they are not fun people to be around. They're tired cranky, complaining, and generally not a lot of fun to be around .... Initially.

FM is diagnosed by the patient have 11 of 18 possible trigger points. (Muscles in spasm).

Take your little girl to a chiropractor. Chiropractors primarily treat musculoskeletal conditions. And lets face it, if you had as many muscle knots, aches and pains wouldn't you be cranky too? While chiropractors don't cure FM, they do make life with an FM patient much more fun to be around. Chiros do help alleviate some of the discomfort. The right chiro may even have some good nutritional advice for you as well.

Fibromyalgia is not as uncommon as a lot of people think it is. The doctor I work for is the top in the southeastern united states for treating Fibro. He is the medical director of the Upstate Fibromyalgia Support Group ( South Carolina). We see Fibromyalgia patients everyday. Check out our website
piedmontpmr.com
and click on the link for fibromyalgia. Hope this helps and best of luck to your little child.

The reason there is not alot of information about Fybromyalgia is because most Doctors don't even consider it until the very last. For many years it wasn't even considered a disease and then it was considered a Womans Disease but now there are more and more men being diagnosed with it.
Treating fybromyalgia varies from person to person and getting the medications regulated can take some time but hopefully with your daughter being so young it won't take long for her. Gentle massages for her will help, I know I look forward to my massage and chiro appointments every week...they tend to hurt in a good way so to speak. Also for her long warm baths to release some of the pain/achy/soreness will help to.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores. We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.

remember that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream but genital warts can reappear again and again because genital warts appears when your immune system is weak!

I got diagnosed with herpes type 2 about seven years ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. However, Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again!
