You should probably locate a psychiatrist for help. They will locate the origins of her problem and help fix it.

You're right, the police won't do anything because they are not trained to deal with that. She needs a counselor. Here in Indiana we have a place called the Bowen Center that works with self mutilators. I used to work with them. Do you know that most cutters, etc were abused (esp. girls)? Look for a counseling center in your area. Ask at the hospital. Try to give her some ideas as to how to get those feelings out. Most cutters and those who self harm are just trying to get the "bad feelings" out somehow. Like they don't know how else to deal with them. Get her to start a journal or write poetry or draw. She needs help. Be supportive and take her to see someone.

First, put her on intake of flax oil. Children get too much sugar. Suspend that to moderate. There has to be a concommittant factor. I don't put much faith in ' doctors ' or institutions. I'm not clear on your location. You can e - mail me. No, I'm not a doctor or anything of the sort. Flax oil: check online for benefits, usually at a health food store.

This site was very helpful for me in identifying my eating disorder (i'm 14 also). Since, I've gone to a psychologist, but people don't change my thinking. Medicine does. I don't know if there is a prescription that would help her, but perhaps one could keep her out of this mindset.
Good luck.

definitely get her in to see a psychologist. that is the best thing you can do for her. she may need to go to a behavioral treatment center for a while. my younger sister was self mutilating. luckily, she had a trusted adult friend who helped her stop. if you need someone to talk to about it, because i know it can be hard on a family member to have to go through, feel free to email me anytime. just contact me through my avatar, and i will send you back my address that way.

send her to the nearest stress center for help...these are located at hospitals. insurance will cover the stay there. a psychiatrist will see her there and prescribe her meds to take. they will then see her on a monthly/weekly basis.
