That is Random Acts of Kindness. Do you ever do a random act of kindness such as paying for the next person in line and then leave before they can thank you? Just an example there are many ways to do this.

Yes, I believe in random acts of kindness, but I believe they're instigated by God. When I am able to show random acts of kindness, I find that the act sort of falls onto me in the moment, and I just do it, without thinking. It wasn't premeditated and I don't do it because I want to be good or nice (though those are some positive "side-effects"), rather because I feel the inexplicable urge to and I don't look back. In retrospect it makes me feel really good, but that can be dangerous as it inflates my ego if I'm not careful to thank God for using me in a manner that can bring happiness to somebody else...

Debra I'm liking you more each day :o)
i don't know if i consciously do it .. like go out my way to do something good
but it has been known lol
i cant see someone struggling with heavy shopping without asking to carry some
i have got out my bed at 5 am to help someone who had a bad fall and wait till emergency unit came
but I'm not sure this is random acts of kindness as I'm sure anyone would do the same

Hello again, Debra!

While I like the idea (first exposed to it via Oprah), I do have one issue to take with it: the term "random." Sure, we use it as a counterpart to the term "random acts of violence." However, violence is often senseless, while kindness makes perfect sense. As a human being it makes sense that I be kind to others (because they are more likely to be kind to someone who's been kind to them). As a Christian it's quite intentional--not random. Loving our neighbor is something we should have as a constant mindset, not just a random thought here and there. So...yes, I believe in RAK, but I'd rather think of it as IAK (intentional acts of kindness).

Even if i wish i could, i can't.

Two years ago, i've been to Ethiopia, to finance and help some projects get started. We actually managed to help two entire villages get a somewhat better life.

Last year i adopted an orphanage in Romania.

Both actions changed my life. I almost can't bear being in the materialistic material world anymore. Even if i wanna raise my kids in the rich world, as selfish as i am. But i made a vow to myself that every penny that i can spare goes to those projects.

Of course i do acts of kindness. That's only human, i guess. And even if i appreciate RAK, it also somehow makes me sad. I know it's unfair, but seeing the extreme poverty in the parts of the world i had the privilige of visiting, made me look at the world in an entirely different way.

I don't even know if it's a better way, i only know it changed my world completely.

Yes I do but not in the way you describe. I am a genealogist and I do belong to a group that does random acts of genealogical kindness.. when people post they are in need of research being done, or in need of a certified document many times I will get the document for them or travel throughout New England doing the library footwork for them. Many of these people are those who cannot even afford the 2 or 5 dollars for a vital record nor can afford to travel to New England to research themselves.

Yes. It makes me feel good. I love doing stuff like that. I once bought a DVD for someone I didn't even know because I overheard her talking to her friend about it and saying she wished she had that DVD. I was making a lot of money at the time, so it didn't phase me financially. But I don't feel comfortable being thanked, so I just wrote a little note for her and slipped it into her shopping bag and took off. Blessed be.

yes but if it came to giving money to the red cross no, because your paying for a worker to be employed at the red cross. or something like that, my bf told me thats how that works. but if i see a random guy in the street, and i really think he wont go drink it up, i once gave a guy $20, which happened to be all i had on me. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. heb. 13: 2

Yes, I try to do something like that everyday. Last night at work, I gave a girl the tip some customers had left me because she helped me take care of them.
