For a Canadian it would probably be a fringe; though we in the UK usually have a much more interesting 'bang' in mind!

Hi there are you from England?? So am I and now I live in Canada. I went to the hair dressers and asked them to trim my fringe but she didn't understand. When I said bangs she understood - your friend is probably referring to the same thing (hair on your forehead).

PS: Why don't you ask your friend what he/she is talking about?

Ok I am Canadian. It could mean a sound ex. The gun made a bang. Or it could be the way you wear your hair short in front or it could mean ......sex.
