Only for those who practice irreverence. For them it's a way of life to respect values based on primitive attributes. This question depends on perspective and scenery. For example the difference between a church and a prison yard is enormous. The general population practices cynicism and intimidation which is a civilized form of irreverence. For example the employee / supervisor relationship is based on intimidation, (dominance and submission).
So, to a certain degree irreverence is a survival mechanism of relationships and not entirely a bad thing. Rating the amount of disrespect between peoples is a vague and changing aspect of life.
It is good to call into question the behavior of others. It keeps them in check. A person may at some point take the stage of irreverence to cast his own vote. Irreverence for stupidity is justified in our own minds.

Irreverence is highly relevant, and terribly underrated.

Considering 99 percent of the human population, and the things they do, are irrelevant, then I think I'd have to say YES!
