i was just thinking after reading some of your answers...maybe there was something before the universe and God. maybe God was created by Mother Goddess...or maybe we just believe in him for comfort. i dont know for sure. but i think most of you have reasonable answers and have been the most helpful! thanx :-)

This is how I think of it...

Everything has a cause so then God must have a cause, right? But if there is no God, what caused the Big Bang? What caused the universe? At some point in the history of, well, everything, there had to be a thing without a cause. Just think about it. If everything has a cause, then what started it all? There has to be something that has no beginning. I believe that to be God.

PEOPLE, god didn't just appear, as soon as people had big enough brains to begin thinking rationally they invented gods because science was incomprehensible and unknown to these Early humans and they needed to find some comfort in death and some reason for life, now it's become sort of a tradition, every few thousand years some group comes up with a new god, i don't believe out of boredom or stupidity, but out of a need to renew morals and laws. Christ came during the time of the Romans, who had extremely low morals and where very barbaric, the bible started teaching ppl to do good and think about consequences, u see it's like a rebellion to the norm.

The concept of God came about in ancient days when they couldn't explain natural happenings. Rain, thunder, lightning, earthquake, rising of the sun and its setting, the moon, stars, etc, They thought that someone was controlling all this and made all this.

God did not make Adam or Eve or Steve or Brenda or whoever because God is just a spirit that exists in each of us but has no powers or strengths.

Whatever begins to be must have an adequate cause. God never began to be so He is the first uncaused cause of all else. He always was and cannot be said to be self caused either, that would make Him the effect of His own cause.....that would be a contradiction for if He is the afterthought of Himself He could not at the same time be the result of His own premeditation. The saying "I think therefore I am" does not apply to God He simply is...the great "I Am"

In the Bible ,old testament is the story of creation, God is , was and always will be, He is alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, He is not a person , one cannot imagine His likeness! This is a spiritual being with absolute power over all in eternity. All peoples on earth have their own legend of creation and all the sories always have a GOD.

The mystery of God as Almighty ad sentient is that He exists outside nature. Since He exists outside nature He also exists outside time. And since He isn't constrained by the strictly human concept of time, He experiences all at the same time. In a reference for us, God only exists now and everything that has ever happened or ever will happen is happening right now to God. He simply is ("I am").

I do not know where God came from. I assume he always was and then got lonely, so he created Adam and Eve. Guess we will find out sooner or later.

another human bean of course. All though we never herd of any other human beings before Adam and Eve but that was because they didn't want us to know about them. Why u ask. because there must have been something that happened that was so terribly horrible to where they wanted to just wanted to start over. Come on... haven't you just wanted to just start over in your life?

Mankind is in Grade 2.
You are asking a University question.
Its not that there is no answer, but rather, we can't (at the moment) comprehend it.
The 'it' means the fact God has no beginning.
The idea is foreign to all we know.
But that only means its foreign, not impossible.
