I do get road rage, but I dont go septic at people and throw things.. I just hate inconsiderate drivers.. My biggest pet hate on the road is when ppl dont pull into the left hand lane to let you pass.. The law is KEEP LEFT UNLESS PASSING, right hand lanes are for passing only, even if your doing the speed limit it doesnt matter.. DO ppl follow this? NO so during peak hour traffic you have a D ick head in the right hand lane going slow and you cant pass grrrrr it drives me up the wall! and when they block you in the lanes so you cant move into the left to pass as there is a car but the car in front of you wont speed up.. Where did they get there license?

I have road rage most days. I don't throw things out the window but I have occasionally cut in front of them and slammed on my breaks.
doctors have another name for it — intermittent explosive disorder — and a new study suggests it is far more common than they realized, affecting up to 16 million Americans.

"People think it's bad behavior and that you just need an attitude adjustment, but what they don't know ... is that there's a biology and cognitive science to this," said Dr. Emil Coccaro, chairman of psychiatry at the University of Chicago's medical school.

Road rage, temper outbursts that involve throwing or breaking objects and even spousal abuse can sometimes be attributed to the disorder, though not everyone who does those things is afflicted.

By definition, intermittent explosive disorder involves multiple outbursts that are way out of proportion to the situation. These angry outbursts often include threats or aggressive actions and property damage. The disorder typically first appears in adolescence; in the study, the average age of onset was 14.

The study was based on a national face-to-face survey of 9,282 U.S. adults who answered diagnostic questionnaires in 2001-03. It was funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

About 5 percent to 7 percent of the nationally representative sample had had the disorder, which would equal up to 16 million Americans. That is higher than better-known mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, Coccaro said.

The average number of lifetime attacks per person was 43, resulting in $1,359 in property damage per person. About 4 percent had suffered recent attacks.

The findings were released Monday in the June issue of the Archives of General Psychiatry.

One day I was in such a hurry to work the light was red and I knew it was and I slammed right pass every car and swerved around two vehicles and ended up being pulled over from the police, the officer came to my car and asked me if I knew that I went through a red light and I said yes officer I meant to because, I was rushing to work and the crazy mother ****** didn't get out of my way so I had the right a way the officer took my licence and suspended me from driving for 10 years and impounded my vehicle and I only had my license for 2 months, no I have to wait another 9 years and 6 months before I get my license back.

I always find it amazing at what people will do. I don't really have road rage, I think the worst I have done is honk my horn. I did see a really scary incident once though...a guy I work with was followed back to work by a guy he cut off. The guy got out of the car, I really thought I was going to have to call 911! He just screamed for a few minutes and then left...thank goodness!

My road rage is usually expressed by me yelling loudly in the car. I would never throw anything, tailgate too close, or do anything else dangerous. That is not the answer. I just yell and hit the steering wheel. It helps but only so much.

Yap! It just comes to you. I don't know what provokes me and why the emotion of rage is so high. So I learned to be careful and how to cool my head. I listen to the radio or play music. It helps.

The feeling is unexplainable and unjustifiable but it comes. So learn to identify what provokes you. Me? Slow drivers in front of me and cutting me.

So far I have controlled myself. I just curse vindictives.

AND It happened when a patrol flagged me down for overspeeding at 30mph (CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT !!!) So we argued for well over half an hour. He took a bribe (CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT AGAIN).

I have very little road rage anymore. I drive a big 4-wheel drive truck these days and can treat Miatas, Neons, etc. as speed bumps. ;-) Just kidding. I try not to let it bother me, but Boston, DC, LA and Paris continue to be challenges.

Massachusetts, omg. I think it's number one or two on the top road rage infested states. It's crazy here. No one can drive and everyone's pissed off at each other for it.
