The African Gray parrot is officially known as the best talking parrot, but it would be a mistake to buy any bird for it's potential talking value. Being known for talking doesn't guarantee that a bird will learn how to talk, and even small birds can be a lot of work to take care of properly. Many different parrot species will talk, including various Amazon species (they're good, just not as good as the grays), but the best thing to do is to research the species of parrot you're interested in and be honest with yourself as to whether or not you can provide the proper care it will need - it's true that large parrots can live 60+ years. Then take into consideration the fact that teaching a bird how to talk takes time and patience, and may never happen. If a parrot still sounds like an appealing pet to you, then great, they do make wonderful pets for the right person. Please just don't choose one because you want a pet that will talk.

Ok the best Talking parrot over all is The Congo African Grey. But they generally do not talk in front of an audience.
The best bird that will talk in front of an audience is the Double Yellow Headed Amazon, it is also the second best talking parrot, but most amazons over all are great talkers.
Remember dont get a biord for its talking ability.

African Greys are smart and do talk alot. Male Eclectus parrots are equally good though. I've had a grey for about 10 years and eclectus parrots for 6 years so I know from experience that both are VERY good talkers and VERY smart.
I have a baby male ekkie for sale when weaned if you are interested. LOLOL $900.00

Any parrot will talk if it feels comfortable/safe enough.
That said, African Greys (either congo or timneh) are the best mimmic in the parrot world. The best talking bird out of all the species is the Minah. (not sure about the spelling)

Maybe it depends on how much you work with them and how happy they are? Sad parrots are not as vocal!
