Well i have to say of all the activities in the world ,gambling is not one of my favorites .
THAT is of course unless you are talking nicle dime quarter poker , then i am in .
YOU forget how dangerous gambling was 150 years ago before it was outlawed in every state but nevada .Alaska was not a state till 1959and then gambling was controled heavily . IF every state made it legal then there would be no excitment in it and in time only degenerate gamlers would support the industry.

I live in nebraska as well, and have counted all the cars from ne going to iowa to gamble.
I think it is a real shame that the tax dollars are going to other states that have legalized it.
If you are going to gamble, you will drive the miles, or play on the internet.
My understanding why some states do not want gambling there is they feel that people will spend all their money on gambling, instead of clothes shopping, etc.
Another concern was the crime that would come from it, but did not hear why.
Most states that don't have casino's have the lottery and sell pull tabs.
I would save alot of gas money if it were legal.

I believe that any state with a lottery should be required to legalize all other forms of gambling. If you are going to offer people 146 million to one odds of getting rich, but believe that offering people better odds is somehow sinful then you are an idiot.
There is no good argument against gambling. Sure some people get addicted, but do we ban alcohol and cigarettes? No. We cannot in a free country ban people from spending their money how they see fit.
There is even less argument to support the way in which the government is handling on line gambling. This is a $12Bn industry and we are turning our backs on it while all these other countries get rich.
Legalize, tax and regulate. It makes sense.

I agree with the people who say that it should be made legal. The person who said "throwing their money away" probably has never gone to a movie, rented a video, gone to a carnival, skating, played pool, went on vacation, bought a nick nack...etc...etc...yeah, right! "Throwing Money Away" is an American RIGHT! Not a privilege.
If congress decides to make online gambling illegal and also if states decide not to have casinos...it's a shame, and unamerican!

I do!
Is it really the government's place to say if we can gamble our money away or not? What gives them the right? We live in a free country (I think) - so shouldn't we be free to make our own choices regarding our money and what we do with it?

I agree with ya. I think they should just do it. There is no gambling in NE, so everyone goes over to IA to play. The state voted on it a couple years ago and even though the public voted yes, the state vetoed the vote.. sooo we still havta go to IA to play. I think its kinda silly.. the public wants it.. its good for the economy.. why not?!

I don't have a problem with it. If idiots want to throw their money away then that's up to them. We can't make everything that's addictive illegal forever.
