I was talking to two Muslim brothers friends of mine (from Yemen) and they explained to me that beheading was not done out of cruelty but to bring the body in harmony with Allah.

Basically, when you cut a person's head that forces the evil spirits that cause that person to reject Allah to flee in pain from his or her body, giving that person a last chance to accept Allah in his or her heart (that's why it's the punishment for infidels).

I'm an atheist, but I find such explanation interesting--it will establish a link with the Catholic Inquisition, which also used torture to purify the body from the Devil and allow God to enter the penitent's soul before he or she died.

Can any Muslim confirm this?

The answer is because Islam is a religion and culture of death and hatred:

The Qur'an, Surah V 51 says; O you who believe! do not take the Jew and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

In the Qur'an's Surah IX, v.30 it also says: And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!

Islam teaches Muslims to hate and destroy Jews and Christians. It is not a religion of love and tolerance for their brother human beings. They are to "Strike the infidel at the neck"

I am a Roman Catholic- a very educated and forward thinking one at that-

And yes, you are right. Decapitation is a ritual much like your examples.
There are a few circumstances that make it particular and might be helpful links to Islam.

- In Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Qatar there are statutes that permit capitation (only Saudi Arabia was known to practice the sentence).
- Decapitation is finate. It is considered a quick and relatively painless for of death, as opposed to torture, per say.
- A final point for consideration is that decapitation, due to its nature, is intimidating.

*Please know that this is a very old form of punishment. And that IT IS NON-UNIQUE TO ISLAM!

Hope that helped.

Kudos for your curiosity!

I'm a Muslim and I've never heard that and it is very hard to believe! Its funny because somehow people believe beheading is barbaric or something... If you think about it it is much easier than being shot to death by firing squad. I dont think its barbaric at all and is no worse than any other form of execution (and probably better than most)

Here again they torture and kill in the name of God.
During the flood of Noah's day he destroyed a whole world of people because they were so violent.
doesn't anyone get the connection?
god doesn't like violence
