Depends if you were intending to work the same hours as before then you are entitled to a similar job back for the same money.
You need to speak to your HR department and check your contract.
It doesn't sound ok to me so I would get it checked out.
Good luck and congratulations on your baby!

If you are in the UK, they are legally obliged to give you back the position you held before leaving for mat leave, especially if the position is still available, i.e there's been no redundancies etc. It appears they want to keep the other person for the position u r entitled to, so fight them all the way! You havea good case, they are in the wrong!

It depends on which state you live in but if you were out on FMLA (family medical leave of absence) which is usually maternity leave then they have to hold your position until you come back. You can contact your company's head office or human resource department and they should have more information.

Your employer definately has to hold your job for you unless you have told them to do otherwise.
I was messed about by my employer during pregnancy so i went to the C.A.B and called acas. They were both a great help and gave me the answers i needed, it turned out that my employers were in the wrong and i am now fighting it.
Good luck!!

Your employer is duty bound to keep open your position to return to work after your maternity leave is ended. You must inform them of your intention to return to work at a certain date.

I think each state is different. Usually if you come back with in a certain time period they have to hold your job for you.

go to your nearest citizens advice bureaux. it sounds like something you should take to an employment tribunal, but the c.a.b. are the best people to give you advice about your exact circumstances.
good luck

They should hold your position for you. Go to the CAB, they'll tell you where you stand.
