I am agnostic, and I know how we got here. There have been books written about it, with the evidence that everyone should be looking for. The two reasons why we're here are the Big Bang and evolution. My proof is all around us in fossils, carbon dating, genetics, the habits of animals, and our own habits. All you have is a single book that was written by HUMANS in a time when nobody knew any better and had to have some theory to comfort themselves.
Now a question for YOU- how could evolution not happen? Evolution is very simple: when a species breeds, it produces genetic differences in individuals. Some differences give individuals the upper hand, some limit the individual. Over an extremely long period of time, the pressure of the environment causes some individuals to live to pass on their DNA, and others to die, leaving the more capable DNA in the gene pool. This is called natural selection, which can lead to drastic changes over a long period of time, which you know is called evolution. Scientists know that natural selection exists, therefore evolution must exist.
And how would you explain fossils, then? Would the Creator of the Universe be so cruel as to make false evidence to cause discord among humans? If there is a God, He wouldn't do that.
I gave you some websites for more information on specifics. Have fun reading!

Your thinking is at the level of a typical 14 year old. You need to learn to think critically and analytically, rather than spew what you learned in church.
So god exists and has a son named jesus, eh?
Why would a god have an offsping? Reproduction makes sense for organisms that die, but not for an eternal being.
Since mountains of medical scientific research prove that consciousness, memory, desire, anger, love, and other traits that "god" supposedly has are functions of the brain, how do you figure your god possesses these traits without a brain?
Yes, the evolution of living organisms is one big accident. If you really want to learn a bit about what is known about this, pick up any college textbook on cellular biology. You might especially research the experiments done by Stanley Miller in the 1950's.
Consciousness is a function of the brain and our brains rot and disintegrate after we die. Therefore we know we dont experience heaven, hell, or anything else after we die.

I feel your pain on this issue. There are a few different situations here.
1) It's the issue on 'seeing is believing.'
2) They blame God for something bad that happened.
3) They have been raised their whole life by someone who believes differently.
4) They say there is no proof.
5) Many people that I know can't believe that God has been around forever.
and a few more. those are just a few of the main reasons.
Hope this helped!

Every culture has a creation myth. Did you know that there are people in Utah asking, "How can people NOT believe in the Book of Mormon?" There are people in the Middle East right now who are asking "How can people NOT believe in Allah?" And there are people in Nepal who are asking "How can people NOT believe in Buddha?" And there are people in India asking, "How can people NOT believe in Vishnu?" Everyone believes in something. There are people all over the world who believe they are right and you are wrong, just as you believe they are wrong and you are right. So what is wrong with not believing in any God at all? If anything, those who believe in no God are at least keeping an open mind, you know, should some kind of evidence arise. You won't find an atheist blowing up planned parenthood clinics or federal buildings in the name of the messiah. People who believe in God tend to be more concerned with life after death, rather than life before death. So I ask you, what's wrong in not believing in God? I haven't met him/her/it yet, but if he/she/it shows up, I would sure like to say hi. The best anyone can do, no matter what religion, is to live a good life, and try not to worry about the other side.

Consider yourself born in a no mans land. A tribe completely cutoff from civilization. They've never heard of Jesus and therefore don't believe in him. Now let's move closer to home, maybe a broken family where the children weren't raised like you were raised. They also may not believe in Jesus. It all depends on where you were born and how you were raised. If we went back in time and you were born and raised elsewhere you would have a drastically different outlook on all things and would be a completely different person than you are now. Don't be shocked because people think differently than you do. You're way of thinking is just as shocking to them.

I very much believe in a higher being. I just don't believe that this being is Your god. My question is how can you believe in the christian god and look at all the evidence to the contrary?
According to the king james bible there has only been life on earth for 10,000 years. scientific research shows there has been life here a lot longer. But to answer your question i believe in big bang and a higher power. I believe that life began as well lets say a domino effect....one thing leading to another and another....i just believe someone or something had to knock over the first domino.

We dont all believe in god as it is a choice and we chose not too put our faith in a book..
Why cant all the people that believe in god see that its all a scam? hmm same reason I dont believe, because its a personal choice!
I want to see proof that this god exists.. I want to see the proof that christians claim to have because mankind cant even tell what really wiped out the dinosaurs so how the heck can they prove something that happened thousands of years BEFORE that?

The way everyone did not believe Jesus when He walked this earth, many will not believe today. Why would it be any different for us than it was for Him? (Please ref John 6:60-71) In understanding that everyone will not believe, we must take on the mind of Christ and not judge them, but pray for them. (Ref John 12:37-50; pay attention to verse 47)
Keep this in mind:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

Evolution made ppl (there is proof of that) not exactly sure how the earth got here something about chemicals, or asteroids exploding, i did see something about it on the discovery channel. There is just no proof of God, not to belittle your beliefs but to me it's like still believing in Santa, it's just illogical, not only that some being and his son are in heaven looking after us (if God is real who made him? u cant argue that god has just always been there because we could just use the same argument for earth) but the number of different religions who all believe just as deeply as u in their faith, who is to say for sure that u are right and they are wrong. I could spend days naming all the holes in religion that made me become an atheist, i just don't believe it.
