You have just defined what chruch and religion is all about. "Safety" and "Passing the Buck". It gives people a sense of ease that things are in god's hands. Wow, you mean I don't have to deal with this. Of course you will take care of it, you are god aren't you. Cool, let me pass the buck $ right into that basket!!!!!!!!

When you put something in God's hands, you give up all control and allow Him to lead you to a solution. For example, I always have money problems. I will lay awake at night stressing about how I'm going to pay this or that. I will make myself crazy trying to come up with a solution. However, once I realize that I can't solve this problem on my own, I ask God to handle it for me and I literally give all my worries to Him. I am not kidding you when I tell you that God solves my problems every time I give up control. Sometimes the answer I get from Him is to borrow money from a friend, which is something I would never think to do on my own. Other times I have received money that I had no idea was coming my way. Also, there have been times when I realized that I had more money than I thought because I had made an error in my checkbook. I mean, I always get an answer, and my problems are always solved when God is in control. I just don't know why it's so hard for human beings to give up control, but it is.

Well when you figure out that you are the spiritual power, you are a part of God and He is not up there directing traffic - then you will get that little panic - OMG it's me!? I am depending on me!? Kinda sucks for a while.
Then you realize that you have the power to create and make this life anything you want it to be. Unfortunately we have been trained to not bother with what we want. Now the hardest thing is to figure out what is the best thing and really, what do I want.
Althought it does seem to work for people to put it in God's hands. It takes the worry and fear away. Which leaves them open to freely think (subconsciously I suppose also) about what they want without thinking they have the responsibility and then it is created.

Sometimes, there are things us humans, can't control. Parents for instance, can teach their kids everything they need to know, from day one, hope that when they get older they'll make the right choices. But sometimes, we don't always make the right choices, no matter what we were taught or how we were raised.
Parents learn, that it comes to a point, when they have to step back and let their kids make their own choices, and have to trust in God, that he'll watch out for them, be like their conscious, putting it into his hands.
Other situations, may fall into forgiveness, in some situation, we may come to a point where someone did something, that really hurt you. And you are having a difficult time forgiving that person. So you put into God's hands, and ask him to forgive that person.

No. Because it is (at least to some extent). Even if you believe in God, putting it in God's hands is denying some of your own responsibility, or at least denying that you have the ability to control the situation.

Putting it into God's hands is recognizing that all the worrying in the world isn't going to accomplish anything. So instead of worrying you choose to release it into His hands. It's usually done when someone has done everything they can, and there is nothing else left to do. If you've had a lot of experience with God's loving providence in your life, then you may choose to do that right off instead of beginning the worry cycle.

When something is out of my hands in that I cannot control the situation, that is when I "put it in God's hands"
which means I am trusting that God will have the last word on the situation and it will all work out together for good.

I put the steering wheel in God's hands when I'm too sleepy to keep driving. Since I'm an atheist, my insurance doesn't cover "acts of God" so my premiums are getting really steep!

there are things that i can exercise some control over, and some things i cannot control at all...i can decide to wear my seat belt, obey the speed limit, and drive defensively...but i can't control whether some drunken fool runs a stop sign at an intersection at 75mph and t-bones my car...the things that i can do something about, i do, but as for the rest, i HAVE to leave up to God...Christ taught not to be concerned with what we will eat, or wear, or about material things-
