Parakeet

Note that while other parrots can be VERY loud - including cockateils and macaws - parakeets are NOT extremely loud. If you neglect them they may cry out for attention, but if you take good care of them, they will be peaceful and happy!

Diamond Doves are very friendly and coo just a little. If you get a female it's the quietest, more so than any parakeet or parrolet. Does not ever bite. Price is about $30 each. Feed a diet like Zu-Preem Canary/Finch Pellets and will be less messy than seed. The bird eats all the food. Train the bird to drink from a water bottle. This bird poops in the same spot in the cage so it is relatively easy to clean up after and lives about 10 years. Where do you plan to be in 10 years? Prove to your parents, that you are responsible, before getting a pet. Do the daily chores they require without complaining. Your parents don't want any more extra things to do.Best of luck to you.

well all birds make noise-- some that are a little lower in volume are cockateil and love birds they are fairly small and they are great companions-- cockateils will talk sometimes males are usually make more noise than females but as far as birds go not too noisey --a single love bird they are quiet small and tend not to go on screaming fits if given proper attention and care--if you want a freindly bird no matter which breed should be hand raised (that means soon after the bird hatched a human became it's mommy - so now they think and bond to humans )if these to birds are to noisey than you will have to wait untill you get out on your own good luck :) some of the ones known for their loudness are macaws and cockatoos-- cockatoos are probably the sweetest of breeds but also the noisest too!! and they are big birds-doves are quieter than parrots ect. but usually don't like to be held and played with like parrots and parakeets

Ok

I have kept many species of birds over the years with a variety of personalities and behaviors.

First off any bird will make noise so expect some.

secondly birds dont smell. with the exception of Pionus and amazons which emit a musty odor when excited or relaxed.

Now a friendly small bird that isnt very noisy or messy is the Mustache parakeet.

They are small about 10 inches long half of which is tail, they cant bite hard either, they can learn a few words, they are friendly but tend to only bond to the immidiate family members, and be fearful of people outside your immidiate family.

They make soft whistle and squeeky noises.

They will happily ride around on your shoulder. They normally cost around $300, and can live for up to 20 years.

They only have this personality if hand fed. When you buy one ask the pet store if they were hand fed, if they werent they will only be suitable for breeders.

Another great bird is a lovebird. Contrary to popular belief they do not need to be kept in pairs, in fact I've noted lovebirds in pairs to be very aggressive to each other. They are small about 7 inches, they rarely learn to talk, They are friendly to the immidiate family but they will bond to a favorite person. I've had a few. they were all housed in separate cages, they need a big cage for their size because they are very active and love to play. They are readily available and cost around $85-$170 depending on color, make sure they are hand fed, if not like the mustache parakeet they are only suitable for breeders. they can also live for up to 15 years

The first 2 In my opinion are the best beginner bird, some people will say a parakeet or a cockatiel. I say no to parakeets, because most arent hand fed and they can be nippy at times, cockatiels, are great but they can be loud whistlers.

Another great bird is a Black Headed or White Bellied Caique (its a parrot) they ar about 9 inches but are very chunky.

They are the most active playful Bird I've ever had the privaledge of interacting with, they love to play rough and arent imtimidated by animals bigger than them. They are also friendly tward strangers and will happily interact with anybody. The only downside is that they dont like to sit still for too long so he might not sit still on your shoulder like a lovebird or mustache parakeet would.

They are generally quiet except for a few minutes in the morning when they squak when you wake up, and when you come home they will great you with a squak as all parrots do. Caiques are very active and eat a lot and love citrus fruit such as grapefruit, and oranges, they generally don talk well, but are extremely friendly and affectionate. They can live up to 35 years, and generally cost $600

As with any bird do you research and know what ypur getting into. Make sure ypu spend at least 2 hours a day holding and playing with your bird. Give lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in addition to the seeds. NEVER EVER OFFER chocolate, avacado, alcoholic beverages, or anything with caffeine, or Rhurahb this WILL kill them, Garlic and onions can cause health problems as well as food intended for other pets.

you can email me more questions or ideas for other species at fatwhale90@yahoo.com

I wish you The best Of luck and find the bird you are looking for, and remember this is a big commitment.

I hope this helps

Green Cheeked conure, cockatiel, or parakeet. Every bird makes noise. I have a green cheeked and two cockatiels. None of them are very noisy, Green cheeked are the quietest of the conure family and they are very loving. Cockatiels are the same way. An dyou can teach them to talk. Parakeets do more chirping and whistling.
