You might want to read about the myth of Firefox. Most of their claims are lies. Firefox is not faster than IE and uses much more system requirements than they claim. With all of the add ons you will spend most of your time attending to them. They are attention whores. Every time you try to do something an add on demands you to approve or disapprove or do something.

Opera is an excellent browser for the more experienced computer user. Go ahead and download it and check it out. I really like it. I don't use because I'm not advanced enough to make it work properly.

Currently Opera 9 is at the top of the charts. It offers many more features than Firefox. It is also faster in various tests. Firefox 2 will definitely be able to compete with Opera 9 much better. I think IE 7 won't be able to compete, it will only be used because that's what ships with Windows.

Opera is very popular among a lot of Web developers because it is very strict about HTML compliance. A lot of people though really like Firefox because there are TONS of cool extensions available for it - e.g.: GreaseMonkey, BetterSearch, Conquery, FasterFox, LiveHTTPHeaders, Tab Mix Plus, TinyUrl Creator, etc.
Try 'em both. See what you like.

Opera 9 is better than Firefox 1.5....wait for FF 2.0 (later this year).

use both - both are good
opera is faster and has loads of good add ons - like can manage you emails - easy to setup - some very good short cuts - I like the right click hold and move to the left and does the back button etc etc
