Genesis is chock full of contradictions and impossibilities. The men who concocted this myth obviously could not afford the services of a continuity editor. The following takes place when Cain and Abel are the only children that Adam and Eve have had... and apparently takes place in Eden... even though Adam and Eve had (supposedly) previously been evicted from Eden:
4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
(The term 'fugitive' implies that he fears that people will be looking for him. What people? ... and everyone that finds him will slay him. That suggests LOTS of people are about. Again... what people?)
4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
(The land of Nod... where Cain finds a wife. This suggests a community of sorts, with families, since Cain obviously married somebody's daughter.)
4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
(Built a city for whom? Himself, his wife and his child? That makes no sense whatsoever. If he built a city, that clearly implies that there were people to populate it... and he certainly didn't do all the work of building the city himself. He needed craftsmen... stone cutters, carpenters. That implies culture and civilization.)
All of this clearly has nothing to do with 'truth'... it has only to do with crummy storytelling skills.

Don't worry,Cain didn't take off with his mother or anything (I've heard that suggested once!).
Remember that biblical accounts don't always name every individual member of a family. If you look at the passage in Genesis ,the tail end of the chapter states that Adam "had other sons and daughters".Some of these were born AFTER Cain and Abel but BEFORE Seth, and some were born AFTER Seth. The important thing to realize is that Cain and Abel while the first children, weren't the only children of the First Parents. The situation at this period in history made it necessary for siblings to marry if there was to be any replication of the race. This practice continued even to the time of Abram(later Abraham) who married his half-sister Sarai (Sarah). A patient reading of the Old Testament will reveal quite a few facts of this nature.Just take out a hour or so at a time to read Genesis, and take notes as you go along. It can be quite fascinating,Biblical genealogy!

Adam and Eve had more children after Cain and Abel. Their kids did marry each other, which wasn't against God's law at the time. The reason that mating with close relatives is wrong is because offspring are more likely to get a double dose of recessive disease genes which are normally masked by dominate healthy genes. Anyways, Adam and Eve's children wouldn't have been "mutants" because Adam and Eve, being the first humans, would not have any mutations in their genetic information. Mutations come from mistakes in DNA replication. It makes sense then that in Moses' time many generations (and genetic mistakes) later God's law was changed to make incest illegal.

First off the story of the Creation and the rest of Genesis is the TRUTH of the accounts of how the world began. It is not a parable or meant to be taken figuratively.
For if you doubt the beginning and the end of the world as proclaimed in Genesis and Revelation, why should you believe the rest?
They had daughters also. Women are rarely mentioned in the Bible, since the social standard of those days was that a woman was a man's partner in life. She could help him make decisions and do other things, but he was the figurehead. Thus Cain and Abel are mentioned first because they were their first two sons and Cain slew Abel. He married his sister, until Moses gave the Law incest was not forbidden. Abraham married Sarah his half-sister. Also, the writer/writers of Genesis have a consistent format of speaking of important people in the Bible and their families. This is why Cain's wife is only mentioned in so much as to understand the geneaology from Cain to Lamech. Cain knew his wife and had Enoch, thus giving knowledge as to where Enoch came from.

Mosses wrote the account almost 3000 years later from storys handed down from word of mouth.
Adam and Eve were perfect and probably had a baby every year.
the memorable ones were recored. Women were never recorded. At that time some men had two or more wives meaning there could have been a lot more women than men.
Cain and able were like 100 years old they were not kids.
By this time, there were probably many familys having babies.
there kids having kids by the age of 16 or 17.
Just in my grandfathers life time look at the huge family that came from them. By the time Noah came along the whole earth was full of people. Only 1000 years later. after them
So it is just the fact they were not recorded. Many people who have lived on the earth today when they die there will be no record they ever lived. But that doesn't mean they didn't

First, Cain was exiled from God's presence after killing Abel.
Genesis 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
The very next verse seems to skip a bit forward.
Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Previously the Bible is pretty clear that Cain was exiled alone. So most people assume that his wife came from the land of Nod.
Especially if you look at the creation story not as the creation of the human race but the creation of a specific people, the Hebrews. Then, it's perfectly possible that there are other people, non-Hebrews.
There is an early passage that is used to support this.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
It says "let us make man in our own image". So there are other Gods who are creating humans. So some other god made the people of the Land of Nod. So therfore Nod's wife is obviously from a different tribe with different religious beliefs.
But, don't take my word for it. Read the verses yourself, and you decide.

First of all, they had more than two sons. Ever hear of Seth? Secondly, they must have had daughters. Why? First of all, Cain is said to have married a wife. So there must be one. Second, women were not nearly as important in Jewish culture. To name them would be pointless unless they did something. Third, The Bible records that Adam and Eve had sons and daughters. (Genesis 5:4)

The Bible says Adam and Eve had Many, Many Children. They only had 3 that were mentioned in the Bible, Cain, Abel, and Seth. So Cain obviously married a sister or niece of his. When he left home after he murdered Abel, the people of the new community wanted to kill him. Why would they even care what happened, if they weren't related to him. He killed one of their Very close relatives.

Adam and Eve had other children besides Cain and Able.
Gen 5:3 And Adam lived on for a hundred and thirty years. Then he became father to a son in his likeness, in his image, and called his name Seth. 4 And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. 5 So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died.
That preachy enough?

Read the Old Testament. Cain goes off to another village and marries a woman (in a nutshell). Therefore, people existed before Adam and Eve. There's your answer mate.
