Oscar has to stay Oscar. Do not take away her identity! LOL... No, seriously she doesn't care whether she has a girl or boy name, she can't tell the difference and since she's just a kitty she's probably not very attached to her name yet. So, it only matters if it makes a difference to you.
Personally, I like Whisper, Jynx, Jenks and Jax as cat names.
Good Luck on the renaming! ♠

You must still take your kitty to the vet to be neutered/spayed.
How about vicki for a name, or you could keep Oscar as a name but call her Ossie or carrie for short.

Try anything that ends in a "cur" sound....if she's already learning her name it might be easier to keep a similar sounding name. Pets tend to fixate on the final syllable, so that's why I'm suggesting the "cur" sound. If you were a country music fan, you could call her "Wrecker" after that new female country duo (with Michelle Branch) and friend. Man, this is hard. Maybe you can just find a name that ends with "er" and your kitten would still respond....anyway good luck :)

Asuka sounds kinda like Oscar to me. It's the name a girl in the anime, Evangelion. Oscar sounds cute to me, anyway - even for a female kitty. I guess it'd be annoying to explain to everyone else, though.

Well, I like Oscar as a name for a cat. For a girl you can still keep it but let everyone know it's short for something more feminine like Oscarina or Oscarla.

I always like grandiose names for cats like Archimedes, Esmarelda, Mephistopheles, Nefartiti, Tiamat, Zarathustra, and so on.
To be honest Oscar is a good enough name and Ocar Wilde is a great role model for a cat even a girl cat.

Ha-ha! That happened to us. Our pretty girl Scarfy, named for the beautiful gray scarf around her neck, turned out to be a he. We kept the name, though. (And he looses the scarf in summer. Half the year he is pure black.)
But It is really up to you. Keep the name if you are attached to it. It would make a great story to tell your friends. Or give her a pretty new name like Angela or something.

Oreo is cute!!!! You could name her Whiskers or Snowcap!!!! LOL! Look at her and what is the first thing that comes to mind? You can either name her that thing that you thought ofm or name her something based on that, just so that you have a reason why you named her that!
Hope I helped!!!!! Good luck on raising your new kitty!!!!!

If the kitten already knows her name, I think you don't need to change it. I mean, it doesn't make any difference to her, I think, and if she is used to her name, calling her something else may confuse her (and make her skip even the marginal obedience that calling a cat's name invokes. I mean, cats are great, but they are not known to come running at the call of their name...).

So why if it is a she-cat do you not necessarily want to have her done? Surely that is even more reason to have HER done - one cat can have between 6-8 kittens you know ? Sometimes even more. Bugger what name you're going to give her - make sure she doesn't turn from a mugwoi to a load of gremlins! They breed very fast - take it from someone who knows !
