You NEVER start on the roots while highlighting. That's the last thing you do no wonder it's 50 tones. But you can try again. Some highlighting kits kinda stink I have tried it. You need to go to a store that sells hair products and get the lightning power and a bottle that combines with it. That gives the best results over these CVS regular store bought highlighting kits cause there not that strong and they take forever and the colors vary. Or hun go to a salon if not get a hair dye and fix it up

If you insist on fixing it your self go with a semi permanent darker hair color. The benefit of using a semi is that it will fade naturally and it will also help to tone down some of the unusual hair color hues. The reason why it was brighter on your scalp is because you have heat coming off of your head therefore causing it to lift more than the ends. Also STAY AWAY FROM METALLIC HAIR COLOR!!! like feria or garnier, high pigment hair color that brags about intensity and long lasting color, contain metallic that adhere to the hair and not even a professional with a hair color stripper can get it out. I know from experience. Also you can not lighten hair that has already been lifted by a color with another color. You must use hair bleach.Good luck!

the only possible thing you can do is go buy a solid color dye like a roasted chestnut and a booster and let it sit five minutes longer so that all the color takes. Apply it from tips to roots. your body heat will make your roots get lighter faster.

Make the best of it. Add more colors. Yes, that's multicolor, or you could bleach it totally white. Whatever you do, just remember to have fun. You might even consider shaving it totally bald and getting those removable tattoos with a goth theme.
