yes I met my fiance' three years ago on Yahoo personals.

I think Yahoo has a good site and you have a better chance of meeting somebody locally. My fiance lives less than ten miles from me but we wouldn't have met if it hadn't been for the internet.

I would suggest if you are going to put an ad on the site that you put your photo (a current one, less than a year old) on your ad. With a photo you eliminate immediately the people that are not interested based on your appearance.
Also be honest in your ad, if you are looking for someone to settle down with, say so, but if you are just wanting some casual dates, say that too. You want someone that has seen you and read about you that knows up front this is what you are about and what you like.

On my ad I wrote at the bottom "write something in your email that tells me you read all the way to the end of my ad". My fiance' was the only one out of a dozen letters that I recieved that did that. Alot of my replies read like form letters or it was obvious that they just looked at my photo. When my fiance' had mentioned a couple of things that told me he had read the entire ad, I wrote him back. We met three days later and have been together since then.

So yes I think yahoo personals works, but you have to still screen the responses and decide for yourself if anybody is worth meeting in person.
Of course I would suggest you also answer ads as well as place one, your odds go up even higher of meeting someone thats right for you that way.

Yep - I did! Still with my boyfriend that I met at Yahoo (it's been 7 months now).

Re. the money...You have to invest a little to get a good return. It's only $13 a month for 6 months. (I spend more than that on shopping and Starbucks.) If finding the right guy is a priority to you, 13 bucks should be nothing.

All I found is that it cost lots of money and the girls I like on there always are the ones that never go online. I'm from Maine and it's tough to meet other singles in the area.
As a matter of fact I just cancelled my account tonight!
