Only male US citizens are required to register with the Selective Service within a 60 day window of their 18th birthday(either 30 days before or 30 days after). Late registrations are accepted, but not once a man reaches age 26. Men who DO NOT register within the 60-day window are technically in violation of the law and should register as soon as possible.
Because women are excluded by policy from front line combat positions, excluding them from the draft process they are not required to register. Here is the link to the Selective Service website:
www.sss.gov/regist.htm
This will provide you with more indepth info on the rules and requirements of who should and should not register.

No you have to to register for civil service or something like that but you don't have to sign up for the military. However the ages in which you can enlist are 17-26. If you're older than 26 you can still get in but you need a waiver. You'll find out that almost anything in the military can be waivered.

That was the old time, you had to register with the draft board when you reached 18 years of age.
I think it ended in the mid 70, it all volunteer now. You don't have to register, or anything. If you want to join up, just go in and sign some papers and your are in.

Are you American? If so, no, you do not....but you must sign up for the draft.....you can do that at the post office......There is no draft, and probably will not be for a very long time to come.....and the 26 was the oldest the armed forces will take you......though if you have abilities they need, they can and will extend that age upwards some

American girls do not have to sign up for anything at 18. Guys DO have to sign up for Selective Service within one month of turning 18. If you voluntarily join you have up until you turn 36 i believe. ask a recruiter for the exact age.

No one "has" to sign up to go into the military. It is all volunteer. Guys have to register for the draft, if they were to have one, whereas girls do not have to register. There hasn't been an actual draft since the Vietnam era.
