I fell hard on my left hip/buttock area and yes, there was a lot of laughing but all that aside, I am badly bruised from left buttock, almost all the way around my thigh, and almost to ankle. The only place that isn't black is exactly in the center where I impacted, but there is a big, tender lump. I am so sore I can barely sit and can't roll over in bed because of the pain. It has been a week since I hurt myself, and the bruising is beginning to abate but my boyfriend thinks I should still see a doc. What's up?

Go to the doctor, with that much bruising you may have a small fracture in your hip or one of the other bones in your leg. You should have started to feel a lot better by now. The good news about going to the doctor is that they will probably give you some better pain meds so that you can rest better at night. Otherwise, ibuprofin and gentle heat do wonders for bruises. I hope that you feel better soon.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. I was hammered and fell down a flight of stairs and landed on my hip. My hip and my arms were both extremely bruised, especially my hip. It looked entirely black and blue and I felt the same way you did and was scared it would never heal. It took a while (a few months) but it did eventually go back to normal. If you feel less and less pain as days go by you are probably alright. As long you can move your limbs and aren't worsening in pain you should be OK.

See a doctor! When my daughter had an accident on a 4 wheeler the doctor told me to watch the bruising on her leg. When it goes almost completely around it can cause other complications. Hope all goes well.

Just to make sure everything's okay, it couldn't hurt to go see a doctor. Even if the bruising is getting better, in case you hurt anything internal, it's good to get it checked out.

Go to a health food store & buy a tube of Arnica ointment to rub on it. It relieves the pain & helps the bruising go away more quickly.
I feel bad for you I fall all the time.

Obviously, see a Doctor about it. If you don't want to, pop into a Pharmacy and let them recommend something.

Your friend is correct, seek medical attention. It sounds like you have more damage than just bruising.
