Why is it that folks in St. Louis (or maybe NY) are sitting in record heat since Friday.
They need to bus those people to the Marriott and Hilton's and open up all unused public buildings in an area without any power problems. I don't care if the closest neighborhood is beverly hills.
What do you think?

Pay for what? There are facilities, they need to use them, and humans should help other humans because it is the right thing to do.

Who's going to pay for all this? Where did people go 150 years ago during the heat waves? Protect the elderly and sick. The rest will have to deal.

How hot is it? I spent 2 summers in a row without AC here in south Texas. I had all the windows open and fans circulating the hot air...the thermostat registered 99, but that's because it could go no higher.

Anyway, it'd be easier if you knew of specific people who needed help, and then you could maybe invite them to your home...or help them by buying them fans. Here in S.A., the fire department has, in the past, accepted donated fans and then delivered them to elderly and crippled people who needed them.

You can't just bus EVERYONE to the Hilton just because there's a heatwave.

Why do they have people running their governments and utility companies that can't supply their needs?

In Chicago they open warming centers in winter and cooling centers in summer. CDHS checks on the elderly and indigent during dangerous weather. Utility customers are asked each month if they wish to donate toward a fund that allows utility companies to assist people who are behind in their bills.

Not sure about the US, but in Jamaica, if you know a friend who's behind on a bill, you can anonymously pay something toward that bill for them.

The elderly and the sick should be taken care of by the state.
All others.....suffer just like we have to in central California.
