The morning after pill works EXACTLY the same as regular birth control pills, by preventing an egg from attaching to the uterine wall. If a fertilized egg is already attached, it will NOT affect it.
The abortion pill (RU486) is different, it WILL remove a fertilized egg from the uterine wall.
If you're opposed to the morning after pill, you have to be opposed to regular birth control pills also.
If you're anti-abortion, you can't condemn the morning after pill, for it WILL NOT cause an abortion.
(based on my earlier question, some people don't know the difference)

They are very different pills. The morning after pill is a type of emergency contraceptive. A woman can take it within 72 hours of having sex as a back-up measure if she has reason to believe her method of birth control failed (broken condom, forgotten birth control pills, completely unprotected, etc). It does NOT affect an already existing pregnancy but will prevent one from beginning. It is available without a prescription if you're an adult (I never bought it as a minor) from any pharmacy, you just ask for it at the counter and you must present a photo ID. The abortion pill is exactly what it sounds like. An already pregnant woman can take this pill and it will induce a miscarriage. It must be taken within the first 9 weeks of pregnancy (beginning from the first day of the woman's last period).

I actually did know the difference between the two pills, but your explaination is a good, clear one. Thank you!
Just to add another dimension to the issue, according to Catholic teaching, life begins at the moment the egg is fertilized. The morning after pill would be considered to be in the same category as RU486 because it does not allow the life to continue. (Each pill just does this in a different way.) So yes, you can be anti-abortion and condemn the morning after pill. It all depends on when you say "life" begins.

yes you are absolutely right about that, lol. Its not the same pill. There is a difference, a HUGE difference between aborting an implanted embryo and using BIRTH CONTROL PILLS, which is what a morning after pill is. Sheesh.
Pro lifers are crazy religious people (well, the outspoken ones are) who think they know more than god does about when life begins.
Well, in Genesis 2:7, God says that life begins when a person takes a breath, lol.
Also, why would god put a womans life above the unborns, and why would God give women abortion having "cause them to have miscarrying wombs"- translated to ancient hebrew is abortion.
Duh. They just think a stupid single celled organism is a person. Well I guess they need to take that up with God, then, lol.

The morning after pill still destroys a fertilized egg, whether or not it's attached to the uterine wall. That's the problem with it.

But if you're going to be promiscuous, why not be prepared? Don't tell me it was unplanned. There are so many contraceptive options available, including several that can be used at the spur of the moment, that there is no valid excuse (other than rape) to have to rely on the morning after pill, the RU486 pill or abortion. It is just plain irresponsible & should not be excused.
