Hi:
I'm about to get married and my fiancee is looking for wedding rings, but she need to know what's my finger size, of course that I didn't know so we went to a jewelry and they said that can do that only if we buy the rings there, it was way too expensive so we decide not to do that there. How can I solve this problem?

Avoid that jeweler... it doesn't take 5 minutes to get a ring measurement for a finger and to require purchase is just stupid.

There are charts online - www.qvc.com even has one - where you just measure the distance around your finger (or the inside of a ring that fits that finger) and match it up to a sizing chart.

That is stupid, go to a different jeweler. It isn't rocket science, they just get out their sizer and you try on the different ones and find the one that fits. Most jewelers will do this for free. To "get a ring sized" means to have it made smaller or bigger to fit, they may have thought that was what you were asking about. That is all I can figure because I've never heard of a jeweler charging to size your finger.

Take care.

that is rediculous, go in and tell them you are thinking about getting "these" rings measure the fingers then leave, i would put a complaint about this with the manager, who knows she might cut you a deal!
also if you get the sears catalogue they have a ring size chart in there you cut out and put around your finger with the sizes on it. jewelry catalogues would have the same too!

Go to a different jewelry store. Send a complaint to the manager of the scamming store. We bought our bands at Zales and they measured our fingers first... and we were under no obligation to buy.
Good Luck and best wishes!

What a scam!! Go to a different jewellers! Or better - somewhere like Argos (UK) - where they have sets of plastic rings to measure your ring sizes.

take a piece of string and wrap it around you finger, mark the spot where the string touches and then lay it on a ruler. that will give you your ring size.

Go to any mall jewelery store and look at rings, then ask them if they can size you. We had it done at several places for free.

Pure rubbish. Go to a reputable jewellers and they'll do it for for you. If their service and product is good enough you'll buy.
