I saw something very distubing and wanted your opinions?

I was watching videos on the internet and ran across one. Out of morbid curiosity I watched a video of Muslims screaming into a camera with a hostage on his knees looking terrifed. They forcefully shove the man down to the ground and proceed to cut his head off with what seems to be an electric carving knife...the kind Grandpa uses at Thanksgiving dinner. The whole time, the men are screaming ALLAH AKBAR! at the top of their lungs. Blood is gushing from the mans neck and they lay his now depacitated head on his body still screaming ALLAH AKBAR which means Allah is Great.

How is this a loving and peaceful religion?

I just thinks interesting that it's a basic tenant of their faith yet people choose to over look that and pick/choose the parts they like.

But it's the very foundation of the religion. Muhammed didn't come with a message of peace, he came with a sword and demanded submittance to his ideals or death. When did peoples view of the Muslim faith change? Pretty sad

John N, good point however, this most certainly was not a fake and with the knowledge that this a common occurence that is filmed on a regular basis. I don't doubt it's authenticity. You'd have to see it yourself to understande, but there is no possible way it was a fake. Though hollywood has gotten better with it's sepcial effects it was like watching a cow being butchered. This was not proponganda but the real deal.

Also those sighting that Christianity is no better. I agree that the church has had a lot of blood on it's hands, but nowhere does Jesus say kill those who do not believe in me. Jesus doens't say "go and make disciples and if they don't agree then chop their freaking heads off!!!"

My question though, if pagans do not mean Christians or Jews why then are the Muslims so hellbent on destroying them? i.e. -9/11 and every day in Israel, suicide bombs, 70 virgins for killing infidels and this ideal of cultrual cleansing? You say peace, they say peace to their people, by means of violence, so it's hard to take what you say even with a grain of salt.

Just as with the Bible, you need to read the whole book several times to get a good idea of the big picture. Otherwise individual phrases are out of context.

Back when that was written Pagans may well have been the same baby-slaying followers of Baal and other religions that had no respectfor human life. In other places the Quran tells the followers of Islam to leave "The people of the Book" (Jewish and Christians alike) alone.

A religion is only as loving and as peaceful as the religious leaders allow it to be. Till the Bible got printed and became available to the masses Christians could be swayed by their priests into believing that killing people of other faiths was right.

It is not right. God repeatedly tells anyone who is willing to listen to him that the way to please Him is to behave ourselves with those around us, even if we don't like them.

This seems to be the most quoted verse from the Qur'an here on Yahoo... But a more complete translation is:

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

It's that last part that is ALWAYS forgotten - and the word pagan DOES NOT mean Christian or Jew - it means one who is NOT a Christian, Muslim, or Jew - one who has no religion.

The clip you describe is completely disgusting and very un-Islamic to say the least. Be assured that the verse you quoted does NOT give any Muslim the right to kill ANYONE. There's a saying in Islam, that the taking of an innocent soul is equal to the killing of the entire human race!

Brain washed zealots screaming "Allah hu Akbar" while killing someone is shameful to all Muslims and is especially disgraceful in the eyes of God!

the same could be asked of christianity. it has a very violent history, and in the bible, especially the old testamant, god was a very violent guy. it was even the norm to stone people for reasons that we would deem minor. obviously, religion has to change with the times to some extent. for example, with the view of war. those who dont see that need become fundamentalists and cause the religious violence and havok that we see so much of today. and not just from muslims (though they seem to take it the farthest.
