yes, it is a puppy, shes about 4.5 months old.

I'd say that its a German shepherd and hound mix. I do work with a shelter and have seen dogs like this before. Is it a puppy?? If it is, then I'd say its a shepherd/hound for sure.
Also, just from looking at those pictures I would say there is a possibility the its a full blood shepherd. Just because both parents were of that breed doesn't mean that the animal will meet the AKC standards.
Ultimately, theres no way to be 100% sure. Its kinda like a guessing game, it could look like a different breed every time you think about it. If you plan on keeping the dog, when you take it to the vet, ask. The vet will be able to look at the dog more in depth and give you a better idea.

German Shepherd and perhaps a Great Dane is my guess. He looks rather tall.

lab...german shepard and black lab...had one that looked just like that, good luck at shedding time, there coats look sleek but there's lots of fur under there,
