Yeah, I was on it for awhile....it is an SSRI, so it killed my sex drive. I don't remember anything great or horrible about it (except the sex drive thing), but I asked my doctor about Wellbutrin which is supposed to be better on the sexual side effect front, but doesn't work on Serotonin like Effexor does. I probably need to go back on an SSRI....but just hate the above mentioned side effect.

I think it is a medicine that works for some, doesn't for others and can make a others feel worse than they ever did before but that applies to quite a few anti-depressants out there. I was prescribed 3 others before Effexor so it can be very much trial and error. I have now been on Effexor for 12 months and have found it to be beneficial, saying that though the initial side-effects had me feeling very ill although not in a depressive way and I requested to come off it. My doctor made me persevere and after approximately 6 weeks, little by little the ill effects left me. Now I feel well balanced and able to cope and whereas initially I felt very flat and unable to feel anything, that has also balanced out to a point where I feel as 'normal''as the next person!

no problems really....didn't really work that well for me though. I ended up on Cymbalta and it worked better, then I came to find out that the problem was that I was married. One thing about all those pills, though, never forget to take them, and always take them at the same time everyday. I would get horrible headaches and dizzy if I didn't
