I wouldn't suggest fruit loops, you may risk a problem like diabetes in an older dog. You dog may be losing some hearing and can see the hand signals better. My own dog will respond to both.

I would not reccomend the fruit loops, but I have to admit I slip on that everyonce is a while. As far as the hand jesters, it might be that the dog, being older, is losing some of its hearing, but this is not unusual, my britanny is only 2 and she responds to new comands better with hand signals. It takes a little work to get her to listen to vocal commands. Some dogs are just that way. I have always used both though. Every vocal command should have a hand signal to go with it.

I wouldn't use fruit loops. Too much sugar, and other things in them. If you have to use cereal then try Cheerios. The reason why he doesn't listen to voice commands is, maybe at the age of 10 years old, his hearing is shot. There are lots of dogs out there that are trained with hand gestures, and not voice commands. Good luck.

I wouldn't do the fruit loops, sugar, especially processed stuff like human cereal isn't good for them at all. Make it a bit of carrot or half a small dog bone. You can even use bits of their own food, they already eat that anyway and its meant for them to have.
My dogs do both verbal and hand gestures. Most times I can just walk in a room and point to the floor and both dogs will get off the furniture without me saying a word.

No fruit loops. Use kibble, hot dogs, or cheese, or cheerios if you insist on cereal. Dogs learn hand commands much faster than voice commands, and most training starts with hand commands and adds voice commands after the hand gesture is learned.

NO - Not fruit loops, You can use Cheerios. They don't have as much sugar & salt. Yeah it's normal for a dog not to listen, and just watch you. Your dog is looking at your hands for more fruit loops.....Damn now I'm hungry....lol
