I'm 42 years old & I've always fancied getting one of those hair braids done - do you think I'm too old?

I've often watched the people having their hair braided and think they look really colourful. I've got long hair and fancy one running the whole length. Do you think it's something someone in their 40's could have done without looking really silly!!?

We still live in quite an ageist culture despite having sexy older females on our TV screens.

Would Heather Locklear be afraid of getting a braid? I doubt it.

I've had much older women telling me that at 37 I can't have long hair for much longer. I look years younger than I am anyway and why is it their business? I put it down to jealousy myself. Just because in their day you hit 30 or had your first baby (whichever came first) and got a matronly helmet cut. Luckily this is 2006 and we don't have to live by those crappy rules anymore.

You are only 42 girl, were is there a law that says your too old to do what you want to with your hair, the days of crimpolene dresses and tight blue rinse perms are out, get it done and cheer yourself up and sod what others think, your hair, your life, no one else's business, bet you'll look fab so you go girl and get it done.

First and foremost, you are NEVER too old to do anything. Second, if you are dying to have hair braids done, go on girl and enjoy them. You wont have to brush or comb your hair in the morning and you can actually style them as well....

If you have been told that you are far younger looking that the age you are go for it.If you keep your clothes trendy but not mutton dressed as lamb and look attractive then a different hair style should look good in fact i am the same age as you and thinking of getting it done myself.

Try it, you would never know if you don't try it. A braid is not even about cutting your hair nothing changes. If you don't like it just take it out but at least then you know you tried it but it was not for you or it is definitely you.

Have fun do not cast yourself. Age is nothing but a number.

I think you'd look silly. I'm 34 with long hair and wouldn't do it. I've seen women in their late 30's and up to their 40's that look stupid.

Absolutely NOT...never feel as if you are too old. Live a little and enjoy life. If you want to do it...do it! Don't worry about what others might say.

It's your hair. Do what you want with it... and who cares what you look like as long as your happy that's all that matters
