I know its part of the natural process of a dog, but this year it seems to be the worst ever! I routinely brush her, give her vitamin E, and teaspoon of olive oil daily.

my vet did a skin scraping and ruled out all the real scary stuff then put her on anti biotic for the skin. by the end of it the skin was nicer and the profuse shedding stopped. it was just some kind of skin reaction from something she ate. i also took her off all chicken based dog food and put her on nutro's lamb and rice . this has linatone in it and that helps produce moist skin and shiny hair. my danes coat is now amazing thick and shiny. good luck. you can also find linatone in pet stores.

The FURMINATOR. It is a special anti-shedding tool that dramatically reduces shedding. It stops the shedding in the undercoat. It has a unique blade that removes loose hair, leaving a shiny coat. It decreases shedding 60-80% for 4 to 6 weeks.
It is a little expensive, but it works and is worth the cost.
My daughter is a groomer and loves it. Her customers love it too.
Just type 'Furminator' in your search engine to find the best deals on it.

There is a medicine the vet can give you to reduce the amount of shedding..but the most you can really do is keep the dog well groomed, and brush daily

Shave the dog? LOL, just kidding, I have 3 dogs and would never shave them.
Brush your dog every day, wash the dog, that gets rid of a lot of hair.
Wait till its cooler, the shedding will calm down then.
Get a poodle, they dont shed.
Just ideas, lol (I cant stand poodles.)

At Petsmart they have "no shed" treats. It's an actual treat that you give your dog with ingredients to stop unnessecary (I know I spelled that wrong) shedding. In the hygene isle.

Whenever you interfere with natural processes you'll end up paying for it at the end. If you prevent this, wait until he/she starts again, watch out !
How about shave him/her.
