Geno's In Philadelphia Called Racist For Sign Requesting Ordering In English

These groups are really starting to get out of hand

No, it's not a good idea to be multilingual in America, no matter how many countries do it. There can be only one flag, one constitution, one common language, and an indivisible population.

"These groups." Hmmm. I wonder where I've heard that before, who's used those words, who could it be... could it be... SATANNNNNNN??????
Seriously, let me ask you a question: What if you were visiting another country and were refused service because you only speak English? Would you be upset? Would you feel discriminated against? Has it ever occurred to you that some of the people ordering may only be visiting this country as tourists--not citizens--do you require that they must speak English before visiting the U.S.? How far do you take this? Do you prohibit deaf or mute people from ordering because they cannot "speak" English? Why can't someone simply point at what they want and pay for it?

Spanish is the language of bull fighters and drug dealers.

There is no academic reason for learning Spanish.
French is the language of diplomacy and finance.
Latin is still the language of law and medicine
German and Russian are good languages for engineering.
Greek is the language of biblical scholars.

I guess spanish would be helpful if you
plan to only eat fast food,
or supervise coolie labor,
or work with spanish speakers.

English has replaced French in almost every venue
except romance.
In every Asian country -
ENGLISH is what they learn after their native language.
Learning Spanish in China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and on and on just doesn't happen.

English is the language of International Business
and Aviation.
English is used in nearly every
International Business transaction to negotiate the deal.
International flight crews speak English
because the control towers are operated in ENGLISH.

Any butthole Mexican who comes to the U.S.
and doesn't learn English
is just being an @$$.

Yeah, I saw that. I found it funny. I'm on Geno's side. This is America -speak English or get help learning it. It has nothing to do with racism, it's about communication. This country's main language is English. Every country has a main language, ours is English.

That is totally insane....as a PRIVATE business owner who are they (groups and city council) to tell him what kind of sign he can or can't have?? He's only stating a fact....1. it's America and 2. this is an English speaking country. If I had a business and all of my employees only understood English then heck yea I would put the same kind of sign up. And fight them all the way....I seriously hope the owner doesn't back down, screw 'em all!!!

They say he's targeting Spanish speakers, and that makes him racist. The truth is you should speak English, no matter whether you're Chinese, Polish, Russian, German........ Spanish speakers have such an indignant attitude more than any other group. They think that we all need to cater to them, and that somehow they deserve bilingual service no matter where they go. Other ethnic groups don't have this same kind of attitude. Hispanics tend to demand rights, when they have no right to make such demands. I think Geno's is making a statement and is getting a lot of media attention for his business.

've heard about this story. There should be a Hugh public rally in support of that restaurant. They never denied service to anyone. They simply requested anyone ordering should do it in ENGLISH; Why should ANY restaurant be forced to hire Bi language speaking people simply to accommodate those who refuse to learn English. If that was the ONLY restaurant in the ENTIRE town then maybe but, I'm certain its not. Its simply another example of the *** CLOWN LIBERATION UNION attempting to Force feed us Spanish

This is a two way street. Many Spanish businesses use only the spanish language to promote their businesses with all information in spainsh only and that seems perfectly ok. menus at Mexican resturants whom carter only to those who understand spainsh at best an non speaking spainsh person has to use the pick and point system...That's the same thing order in spainsh only...

Evolve or Perish. The language needs in this country are evolving and so should we. Spanish is not a difficult language to learn. The indiginous people of this continent needed to learn English, didn't they?

I think those people need to think. . . If you go to any other country in the world, do they think that they accomodate Americans by speaking our language?? One is encouraged to learn the language of the land they are going to visit. I think that we should do what every other country does. Speak American or you don't understand things. Why should we accomodate those not willing to learn our language???
