Is there a market for travel agents any more?
I haven't used one for the last 15 years...since I went online.
However, here're some sites that should get you started

http://www.ptstravel.com/?ppc=overture

I actually joined one before I went to China and saved big on travel expenses. However, hotels are stricter now about checking credentials.

Good luck!

Greetings
Many people think that the travel agency is a thing of the past. Actually the travel agency business has moved to the internet and is very very popular now. I own my own online travel agency and I love my job. Of course you know that you can save money on your own travel and make money when people book from your website but the nice thing is that you can work at home and you can work either full time or part time.I love the company that I work for because I just direct people to my website and allow them to create their vacation destinations. I also offer my services when people either need my help or they are looking for something different. As soon as you sign up, your personal website is up and running. You can plug in people's email address and the company will send them weekly travel deals. You can attend free classes from a travel university and earn diplomas in specialty travel and increase your bookings. And you can also build your own travel team with many exciting bonuses. With your past experience, you would be an asset to any travel business you join. I would like to invite you to visit my website http://www.ytb.com/godsgirl2travel Once there, click on the link view the presentation. If you have any questions, please contact me at cassandra@godsgirl2travel.com Don't let 5 years of experience go to waste.

Leigh -

I am a home based travel agent. I've been doing it for 7 months and things are good.

There is not much need for brick and mortar travel agents any more since the internet has taken over. But here is an interesting quote from CNN

"Travel is the single largest category of e-commerce, accounting for 43% of all online spending" - Dan Hess, CNN Money.

I also have my IATA endored credentials and CLIA card with the company I am with.

We also have a sole proprietary search engine that nobody else has. Lets just say that Kayak and sidestep search about half as many websites as our company does.

Shoot me a message at hometravelbiz@sbcglobal.net
