I have yet to meet a creationist who even understands what evolutionary theory is about. They just circulate rediculous misrepresentations about evolution amongst themselves. They seem to have made an art out of portraying evolution in false and cartoonishly stupid ways.
How many times a day do we see questions like this on Y!A?
"if men evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys"
"the odds of even a single bacteria forming spontaneously are 1 in (insert as many digits as you like here), isn't the odds of god greater than that"
"how can you believe we evolved from a rock"
"oh sure we see MICRO evolution, but not MACRO evolution" (as if there were a difference between the two)
and it goes on and on with complete misrepresentations of what evolutionary theory actually says. Are these people really so ignorant, or are they merely trying to deceive?

I think that many of them (at least on this forum) do turn a deaf ear. Accepting evolution came with my scientific background and training. But I do tend to research both sides so I can be well informed on both sides.
I don't care if creationists choose to believe in creationism over evolution, but the thing that I can't tolerate is all the misinformation being spread by creationists simply because they choose not to understand the mechanics of what evolution describes. Archaeopteryx is not a hoax. And if they ask "If humans descended from monkeys, then why are monkeys still around?" one more time....

I am Christian and I am a Biologist. I willingly learned the Theory of Evolution, however, I recognized that it is just a theory. Microevolution is evident, but macroevolution has yet to be proved. The more I learn about our world, the more I see the miracle that life is. The more I understand the order of things, the more I believe that this couldn't all have happened by accident.
I do not believe that we evolved from any other species. I still believe that we were created by God. But I made up my own mind, you can believe what you wish.
God bless.

You know, the public school and university system had their shot, and I was even an unbeliever at the time. So, don't say that we're not willing to learn it. I studied it. Even believed it, up to a point.
I was raised in an agnostic home, with no religious upbringing at all. I went to pubic school 12 years, and two years at a state college. I studied biology, anatomy, and physical science. I was even good enough to have CLEPed 6 semester hours of science.
So, don't tell me that I reflexively turn a deaf ear to the subject. I've walked in your shoes, you haven't mine.

I learned about "evolution" in school. I still remember the pictures of some kind of ape man...and going to the right, each picture got more human looking until, presto...there we are.
I believe in evolution within a species, not that we all came from some creature that crawled out of the water onto land, etc. etc. Since I have limited time to read, I'd rather read things I believe to be true. No offense!

I am a christian, and I used to believe in evolution. I explained it to myself by thinking that God's days were much longer than ours. But I have since learned through study and backed up by the Bible that it's not true. I am now a confirmed creationist, because I believe the word of God.

In my experience, the majority turn a deaf ear. But there are always exceptions. While I haven't experienced many open-minded Creationists or open-minded Christians, I'm sure they do exist.

I've learned a lot about evolution in high school and college. I never saw a piece of evidence that didn't have serious flaws, some I saw immediately some I read about later. I've seen nothing that proves it, and all the flaws flat out ignored in the text books.

I have learned about it but it doesn't do anything for me. Because I have experience my own revelation of God, I can't explain it to you but I know that I know and I can rest in that. Evolution doesn't teach you anything but the origin of man in which I don't believe that apes and man had a common ancestor, survival of the fittest where does humanity come in as a role for caring for each other? I have seen the power of God in my life, things happen that I could not explain and I know Him cuz He has been there when I needed Him- its my relationship with Him that keeps me stable. It is for me, maybe not for you and that is okay you do what you want, no biggie.

Many creationists THINK they are learning about evolution... by going to LFJ (Liars For Jesus) web sites (such as answersingenesis.com) and reading the misrepresentations, distortions and outright lies that are presented there. They are too dense to realize that Christianity is nothing more than a criminal business enterprise... in fact, it is the world's longest running and most successful Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scam. The product they are selling is 'salvation'. FORTUNATELY, it only works on those who are gullible enough to fall for it. UNfortunately, THAT accounts for about 87% of the population of the USA. (There are a lot more people who DON'T know how to think properly than there are people who DO know how to think properly.) That is why there are a lot more religious people in the USA than there are 'Free-thinkers'... including Atheists.
The people who are putting out such blatantly phony religious views on science are a plague and a pox upon us all... and they count on the gullibility and intellectual laziness of the 'flock' (sheeple) to promote their agenda of wilful ignorance.
