I'm an atheist and I still believe in bibles. Bibles certainly do exist. I killed a spider with one just yesterday.

I asked some Christians why they believed in the Bible and they said because they had faith. I asked them why they had faith and they said because they asked God for faith and because they believed in the Bible and and that they were rewarded for that and thus had faith. In other words, they had faith to start with and believed in the Bible before they even read it. It's a sort of circular thing from what I gathered. And yes, if you were raised in an environment that believed in the Koran and you were taught from childhood to believe in it, you would. With a few exceptions where you might question your faith later in life and look for something else. People convert all the time one way or the other, or deconvert all together. The truth is in there somewhere, I believe but finding it is the tricky part.

If one is raised with Koran he'll believe in all the Holy Books and came before it and the ones who were bestowed with these books. Like Jesus, Moses etc.
This is what Koran says itself to believe in all the books and all the messengers before it.
And even the other books than Koran have clear evidences about the last Messenger and the last book.
The Validity and Authenticity of Koran is that it is intact after 1400 years and the others have been modified.

I think this is a very legitimate question. I have long thought the belief that if you do not accept Jesus Christ you will not be "saved" is totally incongruent with a merciful, understanding, loving God. I don't believe God condemns people eternally because they happen to be born in China, of India or Africa, of the Middle East, etc., when they would grow up with a different culture and belief system. God gave everyone different I.Q.s also, so I don't think he expects people to be capable of deciphering what the true religion is. I think God wants and expects us to live good lives and to love our neighbor as ourselves and to love God more than ourselves. That about covers everything you need to be a good person. As far as the books are concerned you cannot really believe them to be 100% true when they were translated and edited by who knows who. Remember the Catholic Church ruled the world at one time. We don't know if they might have changed things to help keep them in power. I don't really know much about the Koran at all. Interesting question.

Its intriguing that you would ask this question. Go back to Genesis and you will discover that before there were books, there was God. God made himself known to the human race face to face, and it is because of that relationship with mankind that the Bible was written. In our society, if there were individuals who had never heard or read about a book about Jesus Christ, some way Jesus would make himself known to that individual. I personally didn't believe in the books until Jesus made himself known to me 20 years ago - I couldn't speak English but Jesus broke the language barrier and introduce me to himself. I believe that your philosophy is a bit flawed. First you believe in God because that is where your faith should lie in and not in people. I believe in the Bible not because humans translated it from God himself but because it is God's word. Yeah there were a lot of editing done and many people were involved in writing the books but you got to look at why they wrote it and who told them to write it. When you get to the heart of the issue there is God who is trying to get your attention. If you were raised in another religion outside of Christianity, I truly believe the one true God would stand up and make himself known to you if you were desperately seeking him. The Bible says, if you search for him with all your heart, then you will find him. It doesn't matter who you are, if you really want to know who the one true God is, look for him and I guarantee you will find him - that is something God has promised to all people of every race and religion, and I think that is so awesome.

Every time I come to this forum, someone asks this question, or some variation of it. Always I wonder...doesn't this guy realize that there are a great many people who are Christians who have never even seen a Bible? People who put their life on the line every day, rather than turn from what they have found?
Does this person know that many people have actually left Islam for Christianity, even though it meant leaving behind EVERYTHING...for their families turn their backs on them, and many times, swear to kill them. Yes, I do know that many young Christians are being lured into Islam too...but, as a general rule, their friends and families still love them, and nobody threatens to kill them.
No, I don't suppose the people who ask this question realize this, or would understand it if they did....

In the Catholic faith, the belief in Jesus is not just from the Bible, but more from Tradition that was handed down from generation to generation. The Bible was not available to early Christians. What they knew came from word of mouth. Learn about the Early Christians from the Catacombs in Rome. Read the Early Church fathers. Visit churches dating back to the earliest of times.

People don't want to admit it but your answer in most cases is that people's beliefs are based solely on their culture, what they've been taught, and what they've been conditioned with. People RARELY question their beliefs, treating them as foundational to their identity. However, it's only by questioning and then seeing that they are MEANS to an end (instead of being treated as the Truth) that we can get to an experience that is BEYOND them - an experience of God that is beyond all the concepts. If the term 'God' is too loaded for you, then call it 'Ultimate Reality' or the 'Void' or 'The Substratum of Existence'.

I'm Jewish. G-d handed the books to my people. I dont believe that Jesus was any more than a man, and a heretic at that.
