wow, isn't reductionism such a useful way to think?
well done for breaking belief down into its constituent parts.
yeah, i think this is along the lines of evidence for the soul being another human-made idea

The spirit and the body are the "soul" of man.
Before a person comes to earth and receives a body, they are alive as a spirit in the Pre-Mortal Spirit world. The spirit joins the body (imagine a glove being put onto a hand). And at death the body and the spirit seperate again, and the spirit then goes into the Post-Mortal Spirit world, and the body goes to the grave to await the Resurrection, when again the spirit and body will be joined together, this time for good.
As a side note if I may: the main reason that abortion is wrong (except in certain situations...) is that there are spirits in the spirit world who want to come to earth and receive a body. If a person just says "I got mine" ...that would be very disappointing to a spirit waiting for a body.
Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

In the book of Genesis 2 and verse seven it says that when God made man he came to "be" a living soul not that he possessed a soul. Animals are also referred to as being souls in the same book. When you are conceived, you become a soul. When you die, your soul dies because you are a soul. They cannot be separated. The soul is not a man made idea. It was created by God. It is simply a case of people trying to apply their own understanding or reasoning to the Bible instead of researching what the Bible actually says.

Have you heard of Edgar Cayce? He was called the sleeping prophet and very much a Christian. He said the soul entered the body close to the time of birth. Makes more sense to me.

Genesis 2:7
Check this verse out in the Bible. If you have the KJV, then a "soul" is mentioned. Other Bibles mention "living person(being)". THEY MEAN THE SAME THING!!!

Almost seems? It does seem that the soul is a completely imaginary concept. Mainly, because it is.
