GRILLED!!!!! But this is the best way ever:

first, A steak is only as good as the quality of meat you buy. I get 1" Porter Houses from the meat market..... never freeze.
The night before grilling:
sprinkle with tenderizer, black pepper, onion powdwer, and a SMALL pinch of garlic powder. Then puncture with a fork, pushing the seasoning into the meat. Wrap and refridgerate over night.
The morning of grilling (or 10 hours before):
Mix in a bowl:
1/2 cup bbq sauce (woody's "cook-in sauce" is best)
1/4 cup worcestersire
1/4 balsamic vinegar
3 tblespn liquid smoke
6 oz. Dr. Pepper
pour into a big zip-lock, add meat, seal, refridgerate, and let marinate all day.

Remove steaks from marinade and place in a cookie sheet, set on the counter and allow to come to room temperature before cooking. About 45 minutes is good (enough time to preheat the grill and chug a couple beers)

grill steaks to desired doneness, BUT, only salt the meat 5 minutes before removing from grill. Salt will dry the steaks.

This is excellent on NY Strips as well.

LONDON BROIL
Servings: 8 (5 1/2 oz. each)

4 lbs (2 large) flank steaks
FOR THE MARINADE (makes about 5 1/2 cups):
16 oz (2 cups) salad oil
8 oz (1 cup) soy sauce
8 oz (1 cup) Worcestershire sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp dry mustard

MARINADE INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all ingredients for marinade; blend together well. Place flank steak into marinade. Use small enough container to allow flank steak to be completely covered by marinade. Marinade 24 hours minimum and not more than 4 days or flavor of the meat will be overpowered by marinade

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat grill to 360 degrees F for 1/2 hour.

Drain marinade from meat. Reserve marinade up to two weeks if needed.

Grill flank steak to medium rare. This will take approximately 10 minutes cooking time total. Hold cooked flank steak in warmer if necessary.

Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes.

Slice cooked flank steak at 30 degree angle 1/8-inch thick slices: This is essential to keep flank steak tender.

It depends on your personal opinion. On the grill tends to make the cut crispy on the outside due to the naked flame, while broiling can make it more tender throughout. When broiling, you have the option of cooking it and something on the side, like potatoes, together to help accent each other's flavor. You can put a pot or pan on a grill, but broiling is more economical. You can also adjust the temperature more accurately. I would reccomend broiled in the oven, but you may choose grilled for personal opinons.

Definitely grilled outside! When I was a kid my sister caught our kitchen on fire by broiling steaks...I've got a thing about broiled steaks since then! But the grilled steak is the absolute best, especially since you can keep a better eye on it and check the temp for the perfect doneness! good luck!

Pro secret : Do both. Grill your steaks to get the color and flavor ,toss in an oven to finish the cooking. It's a lot easier to control degree of doneness in an oven.

Silly question. Grilled is the way to cook all food from steak to cake, come rain, snow or shine. I grill all year round. If I could I would rip out my stove and put the best grill availible in its place. I want mine medium rare please!!!
Thanks! Now I know what I'm having tonight!

Grilled of course. Steak was made to be grilled, it brings out the flavor better than any other way you can cook it.

I like both ways -- from my experience my steak is usually more juicy when I broil it (gas oven) compared to grilling it on a propane grill.

I personally love a steak grilled outside. You can't get that sort of flavor in the oven like you do with the smoky charcoal. Mmmm...
