The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career.

Tampa police starting salary is about $42k. I would guess the cost of living is significantly higher in Hillsdale NJ, where the unions negotiate and foster laziness. I dont even think our Mayor makes $140k.

I would say they make about 3 times what normal police officers make. Many police make that much by working off duty jobs on all of thier days off and a couople of days after work.
Starting pay for state patrol in Ga about 35,000.
Starting pay for Atlanta city officer about 40,000
Our city pays offiers about 19,000 a year,
Our county police make less than that with no insurance benifits.
Any pay over 60,000 is more than normal.

I would check salary.com. They show the low, median, and high salaries of different jobs, and you can search by city.
They also have personalized reports that account for different things like education and experience.

some states pay less then a thid of that. texas has differing amounts just because unions are almost powerless here. texas is a right to work state and that prevents unions from being able to make demands. you just get fired.

San Antonio: I've no idea what they make, but if they're not making at least a doctor's salary, they're not making enough.
They've got an incredibly tough job and I am grateful for them.
