I had a Southern Baptist knock on my door yesterday. Luckily my dogs let me know that someone bad was at my door.
I have a friend who is helping someone right now. He is dying and was left by his christian wife when she decided that she couldn't deal with it. My friend is pagan. She is caring for him, taking him to the doctor and even buying his food for him. She is being made his legal custodian because his wife can't/won't help him. This 28 year old pagan is doing everything she can to make him comfortable. She is helping his children, who the wife left with him, to deal with their father's illness. This has nothing to do with her religion. It is because she happens to be a truly good person who could not stand by and watch this man die alone.

About a month ago the Baptists knocked on my door. They have been doing it for some time now. The name of their church is the Stedfast Baptist Church and they are in Groton, CT.
Honestly, the last spiritual group helping the hungry was my own coven. But just in case that doesn't count, the Unitarian Universalist Church in Columbia, MO has a food pantry that people make donations to.
Blessed be.

I had a Baptist Minister knock on my door over seven years ago-he asked me if Jesus knocked on my door instead, and He asked me if I knew who He was, how would I answer? I didn't answer the way I wanted to for some unknown reason. Yes, I do know who Jesus is.
My mother has been caring for a dying woman the last year and she recently passed. My mother, I believe is Baptist. She doesn't go to church, so I don't know, I'm assuming she's Baptist, since I am. I haven't been to church in a while, but I have been considering going back. Nice question.

Jehovah Witness came by about 2 weeks ago. They never share from what church the come from. It seem that they have to work for their membership to a church.
Once a month our church in partnership with other churches go into Mexico and feed, care and take care of the poor. Every week our church feeds the poor, the meek and the humble in our mid-week and Sunday services
I belong to a Bible believing Christian Church.
Hope your a part of a great church!!

There was a little church in Bayonne NJ. We had several outreach ministries. Nursing home visits, readings, song. we also visited Critical wards with magazines etc.
We also had a group who went door to door with church invitations.
We had missionary Sundays. where we collected for our
missionaries in third world countries and listened to their stories and testimonies.
There are three kinds of giving, arms, offerings and tithes.
Offerings included buying groceries for the less fortunate, ringing their bell and leaving the groceries on their step not to cause embarrassment.
some of us supported children in third world countries.
This is a personal choice between you and God.
I have found that the smallest of churches have the biggest hearts.
I'm sorry that you have never seen it but much love exist in this world but it never makes the papers
I hope I've been some help

The Catholic church does not go door-to-door. However, The Sisters of Charity, whom the beloved Sister Teresa of Calcutta belonged to, care for the starving and the dying. They are Catholic. And then most cities have a local Saint Vincent de Paul. They feed and care for the Homeless. They are a Catholic organization. Then there are the Sisters of Mercy and you can often find in large cities a "Mercy Hospital" which would have been orginally founded to assist the poor. And there are many other Catholic Organizations that care for the poor, the sick and the dying.
I have been personally helped finacially as well as in a time of serious illness by priests. I know of a priest who helped many people find families to welcome victims of hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. He also gave them food which had previously begged for for himself (He is Fransiscan).

I believe that the last "door to door" witness at my home was either a Jehovah's witness or a Mormon...??? But I have considered both religions and do not agree with their teachings.
The last time I remember reading about missionaries, they were always Christians...the 2 girls in Afghanistan (from texas), Gracia Burnham and her husband in Phillipines (all of these people were tortured by Muslim terrorists, the so-called peaceful religion), and the ones I am aware of in my local churches that go to Mexico, South America, etc....

Just last week, two people came to my door and wanted me to give them money so their church could go on a missions trip. They didn't invite me to visit their church but they said they went to Victory Christian in Tulsa.
Today, I volunteered with a hospice group and I offered care to several dying people. Tomorrow, I will spend a few hours distributing sandwiches at the Day Center for the Homeless. And I am Catholic.

I live in the country, so it is only the most militant of nutcase that bothers to come all the way out here to convert me. So we only get Jehovah's Witnesses once a year. We do get unsolicited junkmail from the local Baptist church.
I really only see Christians giving lip service to help others. I have a friend who was recently shot (not severely) in Belize helping poor people and he is an atheist. Most people who I know who put their money where their mouth is with regards to helping others are all Buddhists or atheists.
