yes, you should never leave you new pet out untill you completely trust it. they are den animals. everyone says that is cruel, well why isn't it cruel when a puppy left out and don't know how to act inside and all of a sudden tries to chew an electrical cord and gets electricuted. a lot of people don't think to unplug them it does happen. if it is going to be a long period of time put some ice cubes in it's bowl in there that way it can't drink the water all at once and have to peepee as soon as you leave, and leave enough food in there. also put some toys in there make it comfortable. if you are crate training it says don't put food or water in there but you have to if it is going to be a long period of time

Puppies should not be left alone for long hours in crates. There is no way they can 'hold it' for that long and will end up messing the crate and getting into a dirty habit. A good rule of thumb is the puppy can stay in the crate for 1 hour per month old it is for a maximum of 5 to 6 hours at a time. For example, a 3 month old puppy should be fine in a crate for about 3 hours.
If you can't get home to let the puppy out, it would be better to leave it in your laundry room, block it into your kitchen, or go by an exercise pen for the puppy. This way the puppy can still move around. Put paper down and leave food and water with the puppy if you are gone for long hours.

Make sure it has food, water and a place to go to the bathroom. It should be fine. It is hard to leave puppies, but a cage is better then letting the puppy get into things in the house.
Just expect to have to clean up some messes.
You can't be expected to have your dog with you ever second of every day, it is ok to leave it alone from time to time. The puppy will probably sleep all day. You also might want to try and make it home for lunch, if that is possible to give the puppy some time to run around.

It depends on if you work full time or part time. If you work part time, it's fine. But if you work full time, it too long to be caged up for over 8 hours a day. There are people you can hire that come over a couple of times during the day to let your pup out, walk and play for a bit. I don't know the expenses of it, but I imagine it's not cheap. You could try gating off a room, like the kitchen or laundry room so he can have a little freedom. But make sure he has water and a little bed.

Depends on how big the cage is and how long your gone, still i think its best not to put it in a cage. I would think that ur doggie would want more space to play around and run in maybe you can section off a space in your house and let it play there while your gone so it has more space. We would put my dog in the bathroom when we go out shopping and etc, we have a doggy fence thing so the area is open. Hope i helped (:

If it has already been weened, then leaving it in a cage (or kennel) is OK. Just make sure it has water (and a little food would be good). As soon as you get home let it out and take it directly to where you want it to go to the bathroom.
(That is actually how I was finally able to train my Chihuahua's. They go in their kennel when I say kennel, and when I get home I let them outside. no more messes in the house.)

If you have a cage that is big enough for the dog to move around, it is fine to put him/her in there while you are at work. To the people that don't know this it is called crate training. My dogs love their crates, they even lay in there when they want to get away from it all. Good luck.

It depends how big the cage is. It should have enough for it to walk around in. Anyway it will sleep most of the time.

it depends on the age of dog.. any dog 6 months or less shouldnt be left unattended that long!! when a dog is a puppy, it can't "hold it" very long.. as they get older they develop stronger "holding" muscles. puppies 5 months or younger can only hold it for a couple of hours at most... they gotta go potty!!

yes, in my opinion, it is very important to crate train your dog. It helps them to feel safe, it sounds cruel, but actually dogs prefer to have a closed in feeling, like a den.
Plus it cuts housetraining time in half and they can't destroy your things when your not there.
