No. Religions give people the world over hope that they use to keep going on with their lives every day. It gives them purpose.
I realize that you view the violence in the world as a result of people taking what they have been taught by a "religious" person and using that as an excuse for violence. I'm not denying that this happens and that it's a tragic happening.
The fault is to believe that all religions and all religous people feel the same way fanatics do. Most people are logical people who will try to use the teachings of their respective religion to better the world around them.

I'm all about freedom of religion. I wouldn't want a religion-free world because that means I wouldn't be allowed to be a practicing Pagan anymore. Then again, back in the ancient times when literally everyone was Pagan, it wasn't considered a religion at all, because everyone was doing it.
However, I do think we need a new law. Sexual harassment is illegal, or at least it's supposed to be. So I think spiritual harassment should also be illegal. Someone approaching me and trying to convert me should be viewed by the legal system the same way they would view someone approaching me and trying to cop a feel or something.
Blessed be.

There are societies in the world which have done exactly what you propose: the former USSR, North Korea, communist China, communist Cuba, Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge. Just to name a few.
Notice that all of these "eliminate religion" countries have something in common -- they are all responsible for the slaughter of untold numbers of their own citizens, and their human-rights records are atrocious.
But of course, I'm not surprised that someone like you -- who would seek to destroy the religious rights of people -- would want to get into the same ideological bed as the people who ran the aforementioned hellholes.

Guys say good bye to father lazio and say hello to me-some muslim sob managed to convince Yahoo to deactivate my account for disrespectful attitude toward islam. Well, let's just say that I hope Israel and Us nuke Syria, Yemen, Iran, Iraq and Russia cleans up chechnia and Serbia takes back Kosovo and Nigeria sends to Zimbabwe all muslims and Indonesia gets even more earthquakes. Islam is a bad joke and we will eradicate it somehow. Oh well. The best answers should be those which support the cancelation of the cancer called-religion. Remember, people are ok, it's the religion that fries their brains. and Yahoo...in a islamic state you will be the first to be closed down.

No. Because it gives me so many benefits. It gives me hope. It gives me support when I am in trouble. It gives a higher purpose to my life. And a million other positive things.
And let me tell you one thing. If we assume for a moment that all these things which religion tells us are wrong then still I will be content that I led a good life, if I follow my religion, because it enjoins things that are for my good. But if these things (which religion tells us) are true then we had better be on the winning team because the consequences will be horrific if we lose.

Yes. I think that religion is a good thing but at the same time I think that it does just as much harm as it does good. Peoples values should be based on good morals and not just trying to get into heaven. Religion is also something that people turn to to justify judging other people. Its kind of contradictory but its impossible to change a religion persons mindset.

I support the public humilation and exposure of religion for the plague upon mankind that it has been.
Ignorance is stubborn and contagious. Its worst manifestation is religion and as such is likely to endure among the least educated in the world.
YES IT MUST BE ELIMINATED!!

If you honestly believe that a world without God would make it a better place you are absolutly deceiving yourself!!!!!!!!!
Yes there are many wars and conflicts started over differing beliefs.
if you always looking for the bad things religiously you'll find them.
Try looking for the good things Eg, acceptance, love, faith ,hope, peace, joy!
I don't class myself as a "religious" person, i have a relationship with the living God and father of the universe and there is no way i would give that up for any thing . so with many thousands of believers having this same conviction it's NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've always had the opinion that it's not the religions themselves - it's their zealots that are the problem -
In other words, take away religion and there will still be people - and eliminating all people is probably not the answer...

No, but...........
I would support the elimination of religious hatred and discrimination.
If religionists are right then we are all worshiping the same God, just argueing about the prophet. If Atheists are right and there is no God, at least we have done good works for our fellow humans and the earth.
