After every time. The water needs to be hot to release the flavour of the coffee. If you add the milk first it will cool the water before it has chance. Just like making tea.

After, because this way I am able to decide whether it needs more after the first pour. If I add milk before the coffee, it's kinda a done deal and it may not taste the way I want.

Milk, and sugar, make a paste, then my coffee. This is how I make my coffee. I know I am probably the only person on the planet that does this, but I am picky on my daily cup of coffee!

Sorry to be a smart a*** but you have to put the milk in before the hot water if the waters has been boiled because otherwise you scald the coffee and affect the taste. Coffe has to be made with sllightly cooled water or just stick the milk in first. Told you I was smart!!!!!!!!!!

STEP ONE - FIND A CLEAN CUP
STEP TWO - ADD 2 SUGARS TO THE CUP
STEP THREE - ADD A TEASPOON OF COFFEE
STEP 4 - ADD BOILING WATER
AND FINALLY
STEP 5 - ADD SOME NICE FRESH SEMI SKIMMED MILK AND STIR (must be fresh or i'll heave)
I have been told though, that by adding the milk after the boiling water, the coffee granules burn. Although I have tried it both ways and have noticed no difference in taste.

I always put it in after, so I can see how much I need to put in by the colour it's making the coffee go. Same with tea.
