I try to say the right thing but then I panic that I will have upset someone then say something to correct the anticipated problem which makes it worse! Maybe part of OC problem?

its because you are trying too hard and your brain is struggling to listen to all the things you are thinking, like what the person thinks, what you should be saying, what you are saying, what could go wrong

the best thing to do is relax and just let the words flow naturally. dont force them and dont prepare them before hand, just use them naturally

You are trying not to offend so you think of the worst thing that you could possibly say and concentrate on not saying it.

Sometimes it slips out. I said the N-word in Nigeria, I was so embarassed. I guess that makes me a racist but at least I don't want to be. I was trying to say finger.

you are a people pleas er and you try to say the right thing to make them like you , why do you need to say anything try not to talk and you will find that people will talk to you instead, learn to be comfortable with silences in company and think about others instead of self . does it matter if you say the wrong thing you ain't that important. love and best wishes.

Take a deep breath and remember the reason why you are saying WHAT you intend to say. Consider the value you offer in such a response, and you will do fine. Contribution is everything.

Sounds as if you worry too much. Try not to take things too seriously. Whats the worst thats going to happen? In a hundred years whos going to care?!

boost your confidence.
work out, eat healthy. enjoy life.
You are you. let that be enough.
if someone else wants you to be someone your not he´s not worthy to be around you.

Been there, done that. Calm down, try not to over-analyse everything. Just be yourself, true friends will accept you for who you are and understand your intentions.
