Often times it's difficult to get a restraining order---or an order of protection without any kind of proof. Many judges will not merely accept the statement that you know that a person is stalking you. You need to keep records of everything. Get a trace set up on your phone, document everything that happens and so on. Call the police as needed.....you need to have proof on what is going on. If the police cause any problems for you (i.e. being unsympathetic, etc.) ask for the supervisor. Everyone has a boss, if you don't get assistance from one person----go to the next level. You can also ask for advice from your local victims of crime group.

With regard to your safety,
1. Try to not go places alone, even walking to your car from work.
2. Consider safety upgrades for your home. (everything from a security system to door braces)
3. Consider a dog for protection, especially if you live alone.
4. Take self defense courses.
5. Carry pepper spray on you.
6. Keep your keys out and ready....positioned between your fingers to use as a weapon in case of an attack.
7. Talk to victims' groups for support and other advice.

Good luck and stay safe.

Keep a diary/log of every time you see the person and what they were doing to make you feel like they were watching you / following you / etc.

Never go any place by yourself - always have a buddy get you to and from your car. Make sure that your stalker sees that you have people looking out for you. Never be unaware of your surroundings.

Make a recording of any threatening messages he makes to you and keep any written notes he may leave for you. If they are threatening, then you may be able to petition the courts for a restraining order.

Learn how to protect your body. Take a class or two in martial arts and learn how to beat the f**k out of anyone who comes near you. Keep a baseball bat nearby until you feel confident about your a$$ kicking skills.

Good luck and don't be afraid. The stalker is wrong and he knows it. He's more afraid of getting caught, so make sure that you always give off the appearance that you'll expose him.

Good luck!!!

notify the police and ask for a restraining order - that way there is a record if anything were to happen, and it might just deter him from following you anymore.
