norvasc has many side effects, such as lowered heart beat, dizziness, edema (swelling of the ankles or other extremities), fatigue, headache, nausea/vomiting, and sometimes insomnia. 5mg is what i would call a 'normal' dose - it is a starting dose, and isnt abnormally high or low. if you experience anything like shortness of breath, rash, extreme skin flushing, prolonged nausea or vomiting, palpitations, or fainting, i would call your doctor immediately as these are possibly harmful side effects of allergic reaction or intolerance to the drug.
