The walk of shame you're talking about is definitly in Europe now but it will never come to the United States. The majority of American people love their country and would never let anyone defeat it.

I hope you do not take this as rude as I only mean to sincerely impart information. If You have to ask this question, you most likely are not good enough for the military. Contrary to popular belief; it is not poor dumb kids that are in the military ;; but the best this country has to offer. They are smarter, braver, more courageous, self aware, confident, and ; within the first five ranks, more experienced and more educated that anyone skipping the military for college. They, as a group, have the fullest, richest lives of any group, anywhere in the world. They do feel sorry for you.

Do you have any clue what would happen if we had no military? Even if you disagree with the Iraqi war, it's still very important that we have a military to protect our country for all of us who aren't trained to! Are you prepared and able to take on an entire country should they decide to invade America? To serve their country.

To test themselves in a difficult situation.

To get themselves OUT of a difficult situation.

To fulfill a family tradition.

To have military service on their resume, like if they plan to run for public office.

To get a job.

To get training they otherwise won't get.

To qualify for educational assistance like the GI Bill. (Not all countries may have this)
