She says that she has a really good friend who was Catholic and would still be Catholic except that she prefers to pray to God directly and not to Mary and the Catholic Saints. She said that Catholics aren't really Christians because they don't pray to God and don't believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior. I have friends who are Catholic and they seem to be very Christian and I know that they believe in Jesus Christ. I'm a little offended by her statements, because people of my faith are routinely bad mouthed by people who don't have all the facts. The next time she mentions it I want to tell her she's wrong, but I thought I'd better make sure I'm right before I do. So, what gives Catholics? Do you believe in Christ as your Savior? Do you pray to God?

I know many non-Catholics will respond to this, but I will only consider your answer for best answer if you let me know you are a Catholic.

Catholics pray to God all the time especially the Sign of the Cross and the Lord's Prayer.

Here is a summary of what we believe, as stated in the Nicene Creed frim 325 AD:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son, He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Many non-Catholics are confused about our belief in the Communion of Saints that we share with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Episcopal Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

With love in Christ.

As a recovering Catholic, now just a person under the athority of God, Jesus and the holy spirit and no relgious symbols or rules
I say, pray to God, he's your freind and helper and pray in Jesus name.
ask him direactly, that is what he wants, when you don't do this you disrespect him by running and hiding.
Does that make sense? I take it directly to him and wait for answers. You cannot put God in a box or building he is omnipotent. Let him have the lead. Not man, father, brother or sister. If you don't do that then it's idolatry. God before anything.
Hebrew word translations too, try to find the truth yourself, accepting only God's answers not man's. For man knows not your heart, but God does.

Seems like she's being a little sarcastic. Mary and the Saints can be important to Catholics, but they still pray to God and all that. I did notice a preoccupation with Mary and Jesus, but it all relates back to the same thing.

She needs to just keep her religious opinions out of the workplace.

A member of one of my Bible studies was Catholic for most of the 50 years of his life. He told me that they do pray to Mary & saints. Also, he spoke of confession to a priest.

1) all believers are considered saints according to the Bible
2) dead people, those that have gone to be with the Lord, do nothing for you.
3) Confessing to another human that cannot forgive your sins is pointless.
4) saying forgive me father for I have sinned to a human denies Jesus, the Bible clearly states that there is no intercessor between God and man except Jesus.
5) the fore mentioned practices are not biblical.

Well, for something, it cannot be tested actual (or fake) considering that it is headquartered on reviews and ideals, now not details. However, within the hypothetical drawback of it being one hundred% actual, I could oppose God such a lot that I'd pass to hell. As to why, good, it is beautiful useful. Sin is the sort of quality temptation considering that it is so satisfying. Hell is stuffed with sin, so it is filled with satisfying matters. Also, in a few facet of the Bible (do not recall what guide/bankruptcy/verse or I'd quote it), it says that during heaven there's no night time and no ocean. If that is the case, I do not wish to visit heaven. Also, for the reason that folks are the one creatures with souls, simplest folks could be in heaven. Being a misanthrope, that could quite such.

Wrong we do pray to God. We ask Mary and the Saints to pray with us and for us just as you would ask a friend. We definitely believe that Christ is the Son of God and our Savior.
Peace Be With You,

I'm not Catholic, but I've been to a Catholic friend's church a few times, and they pray ALOT. I think they did a prayer between everything they did. And all of the prayers were directed at God himself.

The catholic church is full of very good people. The teaching of the church is that if they pray to dead saints they will receive answers. The is the opposite of the bible. You have to decide what is your reference. The bible or a church started by men with a long history of murder and torture.
