Ok, well I have three cats.
Patches-the boss,
Rocky-in the middle, and
Bobby, at the bottom.
Rocky and Bobby are brothers. Those two play fight all the time, but Patches, I thought was starting to play with Rocky, but he just lays on his back and makes those cooing noises while she jumps on him and stuff. We all know shes the boss, so why is she doing this? Is she asserting her position, is Rocky threatning her superiority, or is she just being a bully? Theres no hissing or fluffed up tails or anything. I've had the two brothers for two years now. Serious answers only please......

Yes, they're all fixed, I am very aware of the overpopluation of unwanted cats around, hence the reason I have three :)

Its not a major concern, I was only wondering if anyone had any ideas why this goes on.

I think she is just letting them know she is still the boss and poor little Rocky is trying not to get beat up. I wouldn't worry about it too much no one is getting hurt. Maybe they are starting to play and haven't quite figured it out just yet. Good luck!

I have 4 cats now and have had cats for 30 years. They are insane and we cannot find a common language. Therefore I think our tryng to figure out why they do what they do would be like me going to a German speaking psyciatrist. A pure waste of time. I just love them, period. As long as they have each other they will be okay.

sounds more like a mating call and the act of the other cat jumping on the first cat is an attempt to satisfy...Are these animals fixed?

is your female in heat? they will make cooing noises then. a male cat will also make cooing noises when he wants to be satisfied. maybe your female is coming into heat and your male senses it.
