Ok well i had all 4 of my wisdom teeth CUT out at one time. I smoke, but that is the easiest way to get dry sockets so i stayed away from the cigs for one entire week. (Actually I should have quit then) Anyway, I got one dry socket, and i started to notice it after 2 days with the teeth out. I went to the doctor and they stuffed a cotton something or another into the "hole" that was now there to keep me from gettinga full fledged dry socket. I was fine....

Dry sockets happen when you either smoke or drink from a straw. JUST DON'T DO IT!!!

My brother smoked from the moment he got home, got 4 dry sockets and was out of work for almost a month so it was awful for him and that is probably why I was so careful when I got my teeth out.

Just be careful....

A dry socket occurs when the clot is lost from the extraction site. Any # of things cause that, like sucking on a straw or a cig, eating/drinking too soon, etc.

Usually means more pain and longer healing time.

Leave gauze in place longer to help prevent losing clot, and be careful to avoid doing stuff that can dislodge clot.

PS. wait at least 24 hours before rinsing, and then only mild salt solution, and very, very gently.

Because the dentist will use lots of numbing therapy earlier than doing the method, you will not suppose any anguish in the course of the procedure. You'll suppose strain and given that of the discipline she or he might be operating you'll listen the whole lot. After the method the dentist will provide you a prescription for anguish therapy to take if Tylenol or ibuprofen is not sufficient. Get that stuffed at the manner dwelling! Else you can want it at 10 PM and the drugstore would possibly not be open. You might or won't suppose good sufficient to visit tuition day after today. Your jaws might be sore and you will not be ready to consume a lot that first 24 hours (pudding, jello, cream soups that don't seem to be too sizzling). Your dentist might be ready to let you know while you'll resume figuring out.

#2 I came home and I couldnt close my mouth.. I was just crying with bloody gauze coming out of my mouth... yeah... sexy hu.

#3 My gum heeled to my cheek so the dentist decided to just CUT my cheek from my gum. No Novocain... nothing.
